Stereo fascia adapter - which one is tidiest?

All 3rd party fascia adapters look cheap and nasty. Have you asked Audi if they do one? I got a genuine one for my Skoda Octavia and, although a bit pricey, was well worth it. As they're all VW, I'm assuming Audi may do something similar.
 
Mine is genuine Audi and the Finnish is the same as dash (soft touch but don't scratch it) and sure it did not cost a fortune.

I've spoken to both Audi and TPS and they both say they don't list one!!

Anyone got an OEM part number or a suitable non-OEM recommendation?

Have you got a Bose system fitted? you will need an adaptor to run a Bose system from that head unit and an aerial amp too so maybe some thing like this..

Ours is a pre-facelift (Sep 2000), not entirely sure what audio is in there other than it sound pretty good as is, just no CD.

We have that CD player as above ready to go in, it is useful as has CD and ext. aux. input.
 
Is there an OEM plug and play option?

i.e. and Audi A3 standard CD player from the 8L that literally plugs into the existing wiring?



Also Tuffty, what other wiring adapter did you need to use to connect OEM wiring to the new stereo?

I remember I tried for ages to solve this one in my old A3 (99 TS) and the top of the line OEM solution was the concert plus CD changer. Some clever folk fitted the Concert 2 with in dash CD but given the K-line of these cars, it's apparently far from plug n play. I wouldn't recommend the concert as they all have a design flaw which eventually results in a dodgy volume control.

I think the best bet will be to fit the Sony with a wiring adapter kit and fascia

You'll need a wiring adapter whether you have Bose or non Bose as they both use an external amp. Bose is fully amped and non Bose rear amped plus subwoofer. Just be aware that on the non Bose system you will have to fade to rear quite a bit to balance the sound as the fronts will have twice the power going to them compared to the rears.
You will need
ISO antenna adapter
CT27AA05 Aerial/Antenna VAG Active ISO Adaptor
RCA input adapter
AIS2251 Audi BOSE active wiring adaptor

Have a look in the cubbyhole in the boot (passenger side). If the subwoofer has a single 6.5" speaker then it's a non Bose system. If it has two x 4" drivers then it's Bose.
