So you reckon if i just use a panel filter like a k&n it will still give me better throttle response and a bit more turbo sound?
lol, ok i'll post up something slightly more useful.
k+n's are lightly oiled. some people find the oil effects the airmass, some says its fine, others have problems. something to think about either way.
for me, to end up even maybe needing a new airmass because of fitting a k+n, i wouldnt bother.
if you do go for the panel filter but its not noisy enough...... not sure if yours has this, but... inside the bottom half of the airbox theres like a plastic inner frame with a sound deadening material. if you remove this out of the box, i guess it'll be slightly more noisy but without going to the lengths of butching it with a hole cutter.

I'd avoid the K&B, because of the oil. For 2 reasons: 1) you have to treat is in addition to cleaning at every service, 2) The oil can clog up your MAF and be more trouble that it's worth.
That's why I use pipercross, it's foam and oil-free so minimal maintenance. You'll get more sound from a pipercross drop in yeah, how much is probably subjective and relative depending on how much sound you want... but at the end of the day the filter is still sat in a plastic box, so an induction kit will probably give more noise...
