audi s3 8l rear axle bushes

ive just been out changing the inner wishbone bushes(rear of the car) and i noticed theyre appears to be bushes that the wishbones bolt round on the outer side.

ive tried looking for them on camskill and powerflex but cant find them, does anyone know what they are???? they seem to be part of the axle and are they supposed to move around freely as to me they look like they need changed.

heres the link to the diagram as im sure you'll know the inners are number 12 but the outers i cant find

You need to look under the VW Golf MkIV bushes on the Powerflex site, that's the only place I spotted them.

If its the bushes that are in the actual hub you are on about (and are the part number aragorn posted) then there are no poly bushes available I am aware of as they are swivel type joints rather than a bush...

Never had to replace one as yet... I would imagine GSF could get them else its the dealers... this bush typically seizes which then leads to the tie bars cracking and breaking...

Oh this is interesting, the part number tuffty gave has been replaced with the one i gave.

It seems they've done away with the bearing, and replaced it with a normal bonded rubber bushing!

Goto the dealer and buy them there IMO. Unless you can get proper OE versions.

Seems like they may have changed the design (not surprising considering they have been the cause of the tie bar failures)... not seen any of these on later cars as yet though... will keep an eye open now that I am aware...

Somis the one on the left the problem one? I ask as i hae 4 brand new ones togo from a suspension rebuild kit i bought ages ago, was going to fit them the same time as doing the rear brakes!

Yeah... they are the originals... all Mk4 chassis AWD's I haev seen to date use them... from what aragorn has noticed though is that they changed in 03 which is when 8L went out of production however the Mk4 chassis carried on for a few years in the TT and R32...

If I were a betting man I would think all 8L quattro's had the earlier bush but later TT and R32's got the newer one..

Yes... its seizes and causes the failure of the ties bars

I believe so yes... regardless a dealer will know its been superseded and only supply the current part anyway...

I was looking hard a long for a thread like this (and came across this on googly image search) - so I guess this is my bit helping others as I owe alot to this site.

I've just bought x4 of these to replace the rears on my 2002 8L quattro. I've had a rear tie arms failure in the last 4 months and so bit the bullet and got replacements before this happens to me again. Luckily I was going crawling pace when it failed!!!
