Hi Guys, just purchased a set of led rear lights from Audi, my question is, is there anybody out there can code them for me?. I live in the Huddersfield area..

That's a lot of cash for some lights... They do look much better though!
Thats one of the reasons why had the optional adaptives specced on my company car, the cost to retrofit far outweighs the actually cost of specifiying them.

Lets be honest its not just led's is it, they sound expensive, but allot like the more modern look & its all about R&D aswell so people will pay it.

Yes I was being a bit facetious. Sad thing is Audi and the other prestige brands do seem to charge a hell of alot for what I would call simple optional extra's, I guess im still bitter at paying £100 for the light pack lol.

Thing is if you think how many times they've designed & made test versions, its unreal the time it can take to design something so simple (to US) but whilst I was on a plane to Italy, I was sitting next to an industrial designer/fault analyser & he was trying to see where a component was likely to fail using a rather expensive piece of software, never forgot that day as always intrigued me, he was given the job by a big company but wasnt told where it fails, just that alone takes ages to ascertain with different torques etc on the components.
Only in the last year I've really started to appreciate more what goes into some things we use everyday & inspires me to be more open minded with life & try & make the world a better harmonous place to be in, in other words dont neccessarily discount everything at 1st glance, as in, those led lights are a rip of & it costs 50p to make them lol, does that make any sense.
Overall people moan about things in front of them, but dont consider everything about every situation before commenting.
However £515 sounds allot of money doesnt it, then again so does 20k for a toyota auris lmfao

My sister poxy yaris comes with most of the light pack for free, so yes im a tight *** lol.
I do agree on the lights, I have actually worked in R&D myself so can appreciate the work that goes in, but i will say, with the volumes involved, the lights are very very expensive, I can understand the expense of say the adaptive front lights as there is a hell of alot more in terms of test and design involved.

Yes but also its not just the lights is it mate, wiring has to be changed, which means new designs/schematics created, sent to the suppliers, made up, the modules that these lights interact with have to either have the code rewritten for new FW versions or new units released, plus all the testing with the other cars systems like cluster, steering column modules, etc, when comes to this you have to think outside the box, it cant be shire horse eyes, if you get me.
Just the sheer amount of time required to test a setting find its not right & then test again with each individual system component as its also safety that has to be checked & get approval from the EU I guess, which given its like a goverment department, can take a long time aswell.

You're forgetting mate, we're talking about aftermarket fitting, not on new cars, I doubt they sell that many for fitment aftermarket, but I think 10 million probably only scratches the surface tbh on allot of items designed/tested.
I was thinking about this today what they need to test for, think about heat, cold, longevity, type of led's, the sealant used, bonding, power coupled with already mentioned, etc, all relevant I guess & it all has a filter towards other systems on the car, so its not just 1 thing they test.
Its amazing what the EU regs require for passing & stamping overall.
