Morning guys. A quick one for the diesel tuners. A previous customer of mine wants to get the EGR delete mod but is it best to just blank it off or completely remove it. I've only ever seen it on a Fabia vRS that I mapped and never on an Audi. I would of thought it better to remove it completely and fit the delete kit then remap it. And how easy is it to do?

Don't the newer diesels throw up a error when removing the EGR?
I assume you are able to remove the error via a map?

Removing or deleting does the same thing really.
They both stop the gasses from going back in.
just doing the blanking plate is easier but removing it fully does make it look better and neatens up the engine bay

Yeah it throws up an error code but thats easily mapped out as its just an update to his Stage 1 I did for him. Was just needing to know if its easier to blank it or remove it completely and if anyone has done the mod on here. Its the older PD170 on a '56 plate not the CR170 so I dont know if its any different

I've done the mod on every diesel I've owned and a 140PD.
It is easier to slip in a metal blank and walk away over removing the pipe work, blocking off both ends and blocking off other pipe work.

You got any pics of how to do it and where to put in the blanking plate.

Only Pics I got are from my B5.

This is what you are after for the PD engine.

Remove the 2 Torxs and shove the blanking plate and 2 new gaskets (up to you but I would) in there.

Once you blank it off do you know how much it would cost to get the eml mapped out? Guessing you can't do it via vcds?

I've got a lovely map on my car from Awesome gti in Manchester would like to keep it :)

Yep Rick is correct. Whatever map you have it will have to be modified to incorporate the EGR delete code basically to tell the car its not in operation anymore so it doesnt flag up any warning lights and codes. If you want it done just go back to where you got the map and ask them to give you the upgrade to the map for the EGR delete. Your car in theory should drive the same with slightly more power as its been deleted.

Cheers guys will give them a ring and see how many pennies they want to do the egr map delete.

Will the car still drive perfectly fine with it blanked off or removed until you map the engine management ligh out
