Genuine RS6 Alloy Wheels -VS- RS6 Replica Wheels

As title probably suggests, I'm just curious to know exactly what the differences are between the two?

What sizes do each come in?
What sort of prices are you looking at for a set of each?
What are the pros of having genuine>replica?
Are they easily distinguishable or are Reps pretty damn similar?

Any help on clearing the matter up would be hugely appreciated.

Reps are always heavier however I'm sure RS6 oems will be way to wide for an A3?!?!

The S-line A3 comes with RS6 wheels on already does it not, or are they called S-Line wheels? Always thought they were called RS6 myself though.

The ones on mine that came standard are the old RS6 style ones and are called that as far as i know

I have 19" new style RS6 replicas on my A4 Avant that originally had S line 18"s.
Through the same curiosity I parked up next to a car at audi with genuine RS6 19" alloys and found that there is very slight difference in looks and that being the spoke arms are slightly thinner and genuine ones are slightly thicker. Other than that they look identical and I actually thought mine were genuine ones until audi told me they werent lol.

size wise, the genuine are available in 17 18 19 and 20 i think. Not sure on replicas.
According to audi website a set of 18" RS6 new style will cost £1650. I dont know how much the ones I have were or where from as they came already fitted.

They may well be heavier also but that i dunno. Ive had no issues with mine and only being picky will help you spot the difference

I just presumed that S-Line alloys are the same as RS6 as they look the same?

By the advice given, Replicas seem to be the way to go.

Does extra weight at the wheels result in slower acceleration and higher fuel consumption though?

I cant see that the weight of reps would be enough differential to make acceleration and mpg faulter. but maybe minutely

Reps are rubbish, get OEM. Reps come in all sizes and all versions from 'similar' to 'exact style copy'. You can't always tell the difference just by looking, but 99.9% of reps are far inferior quality - heavier, weaker, rougher finish, cheaper metal.

Audi run the same design on lots of cars, so things like RS6 wheels can fit if you get an A4 version, or the TT fitment.

Also, like audicruiser said, the wheels aren't called RS6s. That's just a way of distinguishing the style (usually based on the car that originally had the wheels as standard).

Bottom line though - Reps are rubbish, get OEM.
