I'm currently in the market for a stage 2 map. My local specialist does Revo which I've heard good things about, however is it worth going custom map? It's on my APY engine which will shortly be getting rods, xs Mani, dp and Decat with milltek cat-back so will the revo take into account the extra flow over the standard items or will I get best gains from a custom code? Located near Brighton so don't think there's any local reputable live mappers? Although I'm new to the scene so may be wrong?!

If you don't already have a fmic and 3 inch downpipe and decat then you don't qualify for a stage 2 and it will be a waste of time and money.
Get those mods done, then, if you already have revo stage 1, its only another 50 quid for stage 2 and it will be worthwhile. There is only really r-tech that offer custom stage 2 maps for affordable prices, this will be tailored to your car and its specific mods, better? Maybe, but get the mods you will inevitably get fitted first.
Imo of course

Where abouts in Sussex are you?

And as Karl said, get all the mods done first then get it mapped, whether Revo do it or a custom place.

Apologies tuffty and bill, didn't know he offered them. I thought only revo and custom code, and them full custom maps for BT builds which of course is very extensive with a price to match.

Its just r-tech offer full custom maps for stage 2 spec cars for 300 quid, which is pretty dam competitive.

No worries dude... Bill has offered them for a while but as you say does quite a few BT and hybrid builds so easy to forget he does offer a full service to all levels of tune...

Bills prices are £250 + VAT for stage 1... not sure what stage 2 prices are off hand though but I am sure he will be along and update... :)

Maybe I worded it wrong, I already have a fmic and b5 tip, and will be getting the map done after I have fitted my manifold, dp, decat and rods fitted so the engine will be ready for stage 2.

I am in Brighton, have looked at Badger 5 and R-tech but they're a bit far away unless general opinions are that a custom code is that much better than a revo so its worth the extra time/money/effort?

*cough*

not just rtech - me too :D

my stage 1 are all done to the car, hence custom, as are stage 2,3,4 etc etc
£250 stage 1
£320 stage 2

as examples.. +vat

I am not far from Brighton, and have a stage 2 K04 if you want some help in making your mind up?

Get it custom mapped mate... either Bill or Niki... Bill (and Niki) gets people come to him from all over the country... where ever you take it you need to make sure they do it on a dyno with full logging and have the skill to tune the car to the hardware... both Bill and Niki have great reputations and skill in this level of tuning..

Am I correct in saying most generic stage 2 maps don't take into account mods like 3 inch tip and the relentless tubular mani, and with rods, the ability to take more boost than others? So to the OP, custom is your only good option if you want to make good use of the money you've spent. Bill and niki take these extra mods into account. Unfortunately I don't know any tuners that far saaaaaffff.

Guess I'll give Bill a ring then once the engines all ready and get a custom map! Would be nice to have a dyno print out as well, what do you guys think bhp wise? 280?

is it better taking your car to the place where it was stage 1 mapped to upgrade to stage 2 or does it make no difference?

Depends I guess... would always recommend taking it to somewhere you know will dyno before and after so you can see the gains and logs stuff to make sure that your car is able to take the extra power..

See loads of cars come in that have 'issues' and need to have stage 1 maps tweaked to ensure they are right for the car... they all differ in little ways...

Take it to someone you know you can entrust to do the work...

Does anyone know if the £50 stage 1 - stage 2 fee would still apply if using a different agent?
The place that did my stage 1 is closed as the owner retired.

if you have the receipt, revo should honour the recredit to the agent you take it to, or go to Revo HQ and they will do it there.

Thanks for the advice Bill
I managed to get in touch with the guy who did the map. He will sort the upgrade once I get my manifold and a downpipe / sport cat fitted. And he gets a revo credit problem sorted.

Thanks
