Hi,

I own an A3 2.0 TDI auto S-line and was wondering about my glow plugs.

The car runs really rough when the travelling pretty slow (20-40) and the revs keep dropping and then rising. Also when slowing down from say 70, it sounds like the revs are too high and its struggling to change down ( Being an auto ). Also when trying to accelerate the car shakes like its trying to accelerate from a too higher gear!

Hope this makes sense!

P.S This is all on top of the misfiring engine!

You could try but good luck finding coil packs on a TDI!

I'd get it booked into a garage ASAP - could be a number of things but coil packs won't be one of them :)

Hi There, If this is a TDI it will not have coil packs, they are only on petrol cars.

Ah right, as you can see i dont know much about diesel cars at all! Could it be glow plugs?

Been on a diagnostic machine but nothing comes up!

Cheers I think i meant glow plugs lol. Going in on Sat to get checked. Just wondered if anyone had encountered this problem...

Glow plugs are only used to start the car.

You got DSG?? If its struggling to change gear etc you could have a problem with the mechatronics unit??

It struggles to start up most of the time but seen that it could be the battery as the garage i bought it from changed it apparently.

Are Mechatronic unit expensive to fix or buy? Thanks for the reply!

You don't want the answer to that question sadly......

It could be a number of things but without fault codes / driving the car all we can do is speculate which does your nerves no end of good lol :(

Have you owned the car long?

Ah thats not what i wanted to hear!

Ive had the car about a month and bought it from a Garage in Rochdale, not a big garage but it had about 20 cars for sale. I got Warranty, which im still waiting for through the post. I rang him today to ask for it and he said he sent it off and to wait a couple of weeks for it otherwise ring him and he'll chase it up! personally i think he is just Bullsh*tting me!

I dont know what i can d if its an expensive job!

Has the car always behaved like it? Garages have to put things right up to 6 months from the date of sale or something along those lines if the car had the fault at the time of purchase. Your local Trading Standards office can advise more clearly on that though

Yeah it has, even in the test drive but i thought it was just me with a heavy foot. I contacted him about a day later telling him something was up and got the " Well it was alrigt when i had it" response.

Thanks for your help, i'll give them a ring!
