Hi folks, I have a 2.0 TFSI B7 S Line with the standard twin exit exhaust lower bumper trim.
The tips that I have on the exhaust now are old, sooted and shabby looking and I am not willing to get a complete system.
My question is about if anyone knows if the likes of the RS4 exhaust tips will fit or if anyone knows of any tips that look well or even any measurements ? I will be welding them on to make them look as best as possible.

Well RS4 tips won't fit in the standard rear valence. They should fit in an S4 rear valence. But IMHO, RS4 tips don't look good on a car that isn't the RS4. They sit too low compared to the real thing. The real RS4 bumper is much lower, and the exhaust is more in the bumper, where as the A4s exhaust sits below the bumper really.

But if you like them, give it a go, would be interested to see how it turns out.

Just get some bigger tips from an exhaust manufacturer, or change to S4 style and change to the S4 valance, there only £35 from Audi.

Go to a garage, buy 2 x 90/100mm stainless steel tips and get them to simply cut your old ones off and weld the new ones on.

Cost me £100.00 to have mine done.

I own a garage myself so if I trace some tips, I can fit them labour free. I was not sure about the valance size but it can be bought seperate then ? The only thing is mine is painted so ill probably not bother with that.
I like the oval look but I cant seem to find any decent quality ones.
Thanks for all the replies and help so far

Like these ones

Will the S4 valance just fit straight onto my S Line bumper ?

Yes it does, and that above pic is sex, thats the reason i want RS4 pipes.

I know, it is sweet. He has her looking well.
So basically if I get an S4 rear valance, pop it straight onto my S Line bumper, I will be able to use the RS4 tips ?

Ok heres some pics.

Before- with downward diesel pipes.

After - with Some nice chrome pipes

The standard TFSI tips are painted in a dark matt grey and aren't normally corroded, so you could either give these a clean and a tart up for a stealth look, or as they're painted, polish them up for a free solution. Have to say though the RS4 pipes do look good.

The RS4 pipes do look good but only on an rs4, as the RS4 has the wider arches which makes them look alot better.

Stick them on a non RS4 and they will look *****!

I thought that these were pretty close to the RS4 pipes ( if not actually RS4 pipes ) and it looks pretty good IMO

Anyway I have just ordered the S4 bottom valence from TPS there now so we will see how it all looks when fitted.
Yours do look really really well but just not the style that I am after. Thank you for posting the pictures and she looks great :)
Sam I think your right about them being painted and that why they wont clean up but I have now got it in my head to do the RS4 style and once the seed is planted in there........ ;)

The first pic on this thread is RS4 exhaust on an S-line and it looks mint! the one above is not as good but still nice, I think the first one has genuine RS4 pipes.

Ah, er.... its the same exhaust on the same car triple lol :)
Im honestly not taking the **** but just letting you know :)

I wanted the RS4 pipes at first, but couldnt be ***** changing the valance etc.

Anyway get some pics up when you get yours fitted mate.

Will do Dazmo and I like your avatar picture :)

Anyone know the part numbe for s4 splitter ?

I can get you it tomorrow. Just ask TPS for a rear bumper spoiler for a 2006 A4 and there is only one option.

EDIT - Sorry, no I dont know the splitter part number.

Hi, I own B7 3.0TDI earlier 201 version. This is an old thread I know but I just wanted to share my story. It all all started when I rang MIJ to ask if I could get the original tips changed, they advised it shouldn't be a problem but asked me to make an appointment with them as they'd have to see my car which is what I did & paid them a visit. They got my car up on the ramp, took one look & said they wouldn't be able to help as my pipe was slightly curved & it was also too high so wouldn't be able to centralise the tips into the diffuser, they could probably bodge it but that's not what they do, they're not cowboys there. I would apparently have no option but to buy two new back boxes off them or go for a cat back however at no point during this conversation was it mentioned that they actually stock tips specifically shaped for this type of exhaust & shamelessly tried selling me two back boxes for 380 smackeroonies. I declined as I just didn't have the money but the guy I spoke to was very convincing & I had to say no about four times before he let me go. Anyway I continued on my search for tips which is when I stumbled across these on ebay, also discovering it was MIJ that was selling them for only £9.99 each inc postage. I couldn't afford or justify getting a new exhaust fitted atm, especially when there's nothing wrong with my current standard one. I fitted these myself, it was a very simple process & they also fit perfectly with the standard s line diffuser too. I must say I am very happy with how they look, they don't stick out at all, great quality & you'd never know that they were bolted on by just looking at them. I will eventually get a full stainless but in the meantime on a budget think this is a great option for those that want the look but can't afford the real thing.

Firstly, nice to meet you at AITP fella, those tips are exactly what im looking for, don't suppose you can recall where you got them from.

Cheers

Don't suppose tips make much of a sound difference when welded on? Also, how are the diesel guys coping with them coking up with soot/smoke etc? Do you find yourself cleaning them every week?

I may go for the 3.5" tailpipes as a temporary solution. I wanna look into an exhaust system which sounds nice too (something like the Milltek), but not too keen on eliminating the DPF and having smoke come out the back. Not sure if you can just change the rear boxes from the Milltek system.

Am I right in saying 90mm is 3.5" and 100mm is 4"?

90mm = 3.54"
100mm = 3.93"

So for exhaust tip sizes yes that's about right. This thing with the valance of the A4 is that it's curved, so to get exhsut tips that fit properly you need to fit them at a slight angle so the end of the tip sits flush with the rear bumper... A new exhaust is on my wish-list so will get a custom place to make them as flush as possible with the rear valance...

Depends on your car engine. When I had them done on my 2.0 ltr the back boxes were removed, you got a slight roar but which sounds nice not intrusive inside the car either.

As for cleaning valance - mine was o.k no soot on the back that I noticed so no extra cleaning - depends how smokey you are.

Hope this helps

Aditional exhaust tips shots I had done on my B6 Quattro 2.5 TDI (was a good car at the time I owned it)

I've got the 3.0TDI so looking for something to make the most of it, however I don't wanna remove the DPF (smoke) and don't want something that drones. The one on your 2.0TDI looks spot on if I'm honest. What kind of sound could I expect from that set up? Was it just the back boxes or did you remove the silencer too?

Thanks, Azeem.

Great, I have the Same on my 3.0 ltr Quattro TDI now- I have kept the back boxes to keep it looking origanal. If you remove them you will get more of a growl or if you keep them you will just have a nice hummmm at the back and almost be like original like sounding as you got now. However, you could go the whole hog and have stainless steel boxes and a bigger bore centre section, D -cat etc cost £££'s though.

good luck

Hi which version 3.0 TDI quattro do you own? The exhaust tips you have are exactly what I am after. When torque flow fitted them were they a straight fit or was there some modifying required to go on the standard exhaust? Thinking of paying powerflow a visit tomorrow as they are local to me, can you remember what they cost you?

Thanks in advance

I was quoted 130 quid from power flow.. Debating doing it myself though as my mate is handy with a welder!

Mines were black... So just polished my pipes (pardon the pun) :)

Do you mean just completely removing the back boxes and having the pipework there? I think there may be a mid box I can remove too. Also what is the difference between a decat and DPF removal on our engine? I'm led to believe there are two catalytic covertors and a DPF. I may just remove everything but the DPF if thats the case.

How did you get your pipe so gleaming? I attempted but it's nowhere near as good as yours.

As you can see they were a state! I first used wire wool (a brillo pad will do)
Attacked it with that first and that removed the bulk of the grime, I then used Autosol to finish it off.. Only a 10 min job really! :D

Went to powerflow today as I wanted to see what they could offer, they had hardly anything in stock though so said they would have to order in the exhaust tip I wanted & they wouldn't be able to provide the tips with clamp or bolts so it would have to be welded on. The price they quoted for doing this was £107.88 for a 4" oval, the tips themselves were around £25 each.
