A lot of people I speak to say "Oh Audi Engines do use a little oil" I've just done around 1100 miles since owning around 100 of though's towing a caravan. I'd just used a smidge off the maximum so I'm pretty pleased. Just wondered though if everyone else find their "Audi's" use oil?

I'm running a QTS AJL engine on 124'ish thousand miles on the clock.

Just passed it's MOT with flying colours and certain lights fitted!?!

Mines the same every couple of weeks i check mine audi say its the design of the engine to burn 1 litre every 2500miles

mine went from full on the dipstick to min in about 6 months, only noticed owt from the exhaust 3-4 times on idol, done bout 3500- 4000 miles tho, its all good. ;-)

To be honest I never really check my oil now, I used to check it all the time and it never seemed to go down so now I just do the oil change every 6000-7000 miles and leave it unless I'm going on a really long journey ,and it's never dropped below half way between full and empty

Yea I'm pretty pleased and as I tow a caravan thought that was spot on. I'd only noticed cos the low oil warning light came on for some odd reason. it had used maybe an 1 8th of the stick and that was a hot check.

My car is a 1995 1.6 petrol A4 and in the year or so I have owned it I have never used a single drop of oil.

Sure that was the low oil light and not low oil pressure as these engines do suffer from blocked pick up pipes

it was the amber warning with low or min next to the oil can. It went out once I pulled over.
Does anyone know if the 1.6 suffers from the same problems as the 1.8 with oil starvation problems due to a blocked oil pickup.

well I've done 500 miles, including 150miles of caravan towing and it seems not to have used a drop! :-D

well I reckon I'm using just under half a ltr per 1000 miles. Still not too bad. Love to know where it leaks to burn it? Going to try some seal reñovator see if that helps

I have had 8 VAG cars, 6 of which have been Audi's. I have only ever had to do the odd top-up between services.. A fella I work with has a E93 325i M-sport, it uses a litre every 700 miles steady.. which is about 14 litres a year, BMW say its within tolerance!!! VAG FTW..

Both my 2.5TDis use almost none.
The Avant has a slight (I think heavy!!) leak from the injector seals/rocker covers and sometimes uses up to a litre in 10,000 miles. (Vege engine, 30k miles old - leakage down to me :crying:)
I haven't topped up the saloon between services (three 10k mile services since I owned the car), and it's on 122,000-ish now :arco:.

Just put 200ml in my brand new S3 after nearly 4K miles! I'm well impressed if I am honest!

i realise you posted this back in may, but to answer your question.....
no not usually. just the turbo petrol engines in my experience.
mainly because turbo engines should by rights be changed more often than due to the higher oil temps, high combustion temps, more piston blow by.... all these contaminate the oil faster. and when not serviced every 5-7k the carbon builds up till it starts flakeing off and swimming round with the oil until it blocks the pick up strainer.

but still it can happen in n/a engines i suppose..... but youd have to be very slack on servicing it for a long time.
