Radio help

Had the battery disconnected on my S3 all weekend while I changed the engine,when everything was all connected back up I turned the stereo on and it's come up saying safe on the screen,does anybody know why this might have happened and if there is a way to get it unlocked again

Unless you have the radio code then your have to take it to audi to unlock. on the phone they say its £20 but ive had mine down twice now and never payed a penny

I've got the code for it but not sure how to enter it in as I thought it was locked once it says safe on the screen

Can't figure out how to enter the code as its not responding whatever buttons I push
