My rear speakers and sub woofer have never worked in my Avant and if I fade to the rear I get no sound. As I think these are all powered by the amp, what's the best way to test if the amp is working? ie, test power to the amp, then test output from the amp (as well as input).

Also, it's not a Bose system

Cheers

You're probably better off asking this in the ICE section, but you would also get better answers if you add whether you have an after-market HU or not.

My last A4 saloon had the same problem, amp in the boot had failed. I picked up one on ebay for about 30 quid, 3 mins to fit, jobs a good un.

I'll keep you in mind if I decide to get a new amp. I was testing it today, the power from the battery is getting to the amp. Strange thing is that I reckoned I could bridge the connector to the amp (after disconnecting it) and let the head unit power the rear speakers without the amp (just for testing sake) but I couldnt get any of the rears or sub to work. I was using the following diagram and bridging the rears, ie 1 to 20 and 2 to 21, but no sound.

BTW, it's all standard RNS D/symphony setup.

Where is the amp located as my rears don't work?

Excellent thanks! What's the red pull thing by the light?

Just to point out, I have a saloon so not sure if it's the same location in the avant.

If the central locking goes tits up, pulling this will unlock your fuel filler cap. Its found behind a circular piece in the boot, the bit that covers the tail light retaining bolt..

Far as I know anyway.. never had to pull it so far.. just spoke that one up!!
