247 to 270+ Stage 2 ( how much faster will it feel?)

A guy here ran standard side mounts with a GT2871R and ran a 12.6 @ 113 :) Probably depends on the turbo setup really? A high boost K04 probably produces a decent amount of heat compared to a relaxed GT28/30? One for Bill/Tuffty I guess.

quite how a 1/4 mile time reflects efficient intercooling is beyond me.

and yes.. lower boost less heat from the compression of that air and remaining in the turbos efficiency island will produce cooler charge temps.

thank god me7 has in built strategies to cope with shyte hardware spec and tunes... is all I will say - it puts up with a lot of crap

lets not forget the Forge cooler is 51mm and peeps are happy with that...

It says its 550hp capable in the listing but I can tell you from experience that is complete rubbish...

<tuffty/>

Hmmmm I'm thinking a B5 FMIC full kit should become available..... Badger 5 - For ultimate air flow! Lol

Well iv brought a stack boost gauge and a single pillar pod so hopefully by the weekend il be a able to see what im running? hopefully not too much .

Sorry if you mis-interpreted but I wasn't saying it was efficient cooling - more an example of someone else running a big turbo on standard SMICs. It was more a question whether a high boost setup needed it as much :)

How do the side mounts compare to the RS4 ones?

Yeah I remember when I took mine out thinking that the design wasn't that bad in all fairness with the scoops etc. I guess their efficiency might not be ideal but there had been a fair amount of R&D gone into it.

the overall size of them is'nt the main issue I dont think, but presenting the air to and from them is pretty dire..
their recovery time is quite poor compared to fmic's which as well as being all aluminium construction, also sit with no air obstructions to speak of.. greater exposed surface area to heat exchange to.

Hi all , right i finish fitting my boost gauge today and my car is running at 20psi , sometimes it goes to 21 but levels out at 19-20 . Is this average boost for stage 2?

Am a newbie to the forum, but have come on to learn a bit more about further upgrades to our A4 1.8T Cab.
FYI We have just had MDM Technique remap to REVO stage 2 from stage 1 following the addition of a Milltek HI Flow cat. Significant improvement to the performance, particularly mid range. However my wife has noticed a fair reduction in mpg on her commute. Still, a few mpg is a small price to pay for the extra oomph (plus it's her fuel :whistle2:)
Interesting info regarding the heat etc from Tuffty.
Probably why the garage suggested they haven't wound ours right up yet as am still running the standard SMIC.
As such am hunting for a thread that can recommend an upgrade. Not FMIC as wish to stay stock looking. But won't divert this one. Will go off and do some digging......
