247 to 270+ Stage 2 ( how much faster will it feel?)

And the results are in . Soo happy with the outcome ! making me smile !

yeah alot more than i was expecting so im taking it easy to a certain degree and getting my rods upgraded as soon as i have the spare cash .

not sure about this, but... is there any way of geting like a switch or something so with a stage 2 map, you can alter from like e.g. 280bhp to 250.... so like daily driving around on 250 then occanisaly you flick the switch to the 280?? i havnt got much of a clue about this sorta thing btw! haha :)

am i taking a chance with this map then?

given the dyno...>> (Inertial (code DF4IS), equipped with flywheel masses (2);)

who knows...

It wont read those figures here for example.. on a loaded brakeed dyno

I was directing the "rods" comment at Jojo too ;)

Bill is saying that his dyno won't give you the figures you have posted above.

OK cool . Even AmD where very surprised with the figures after and said my car is running very well .

But is there anything i should be worrying about? (apart from the rods ) . Getting paranoid now lol

thing is with out having a fmic, the boost will probably be at 1million to get you your 'stage 2' figures, which gives it its dangerously high torque. if you'd had a fmic on there they couldve used less boost for the same power by using more timing, whilst keeping torque safer.
Obv your happy with the 280hp figure, and i guess they are good at giving their customers the figures they really want.

MTM developed the big turbo kit when FMIC's wasn't available on S3's, and they like OEM look, plus they charge you half the price of a brand spanking new S3(at the time) for this conversion! :faint:

...and didn't spec rods ;P

Each tuner have a different criteria for stage2. In AmD's case, Stage 2 is induction kit, Exhaust with high flow cat and remap to suit.

well (unusally for me, not!) I would disagree with that advise

if anyone logs their actual intake temps they would realise why...
why make it hotter when stage 1 already makes it hot...? answers on a postcard :p

1005 millibars = 14.5762926 pounds per square inch.I didnt think it was that much boost really for the results?

lol thought that was a bit low. what sort of boost should i be running at stage two?

this will vary between tuners and also peak vs held..
some will spike 25+psi then drop back to 18psi up top (only if turbo is capable-read healthy)

think rods on those which spike that high - imho

muchos heat generated

Ok thanks Bill . Just looking at boost gauges as i would like to buy one tonight and install it at the weekend and see what im running? . Any recommendations ?

And MTM run big turbos on standard side mounts :faint:

A guy here ran standard side mounts with a GT2871R and ran a 12.6 @ 113 :) Probably depends on the turbo setup really? A high boost K04 probably produces a decent amount of heat compared to a relaxed GT28/30? One for Bill/Tuffty I guess.

And I quote from the FMIC thread I started :)
http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/75425-ah-fab-ebay-forge-s3-fmic-image-heavy.html
As for how well it works, I logged the air intake temperatures (AIT's) on the SMIC's with an outside temp of 16 degrees and was getting a steadily rising off bosst temp of between 50 and 58 degrees with an on boost max of 70 degrees. With the FMIC on, I logged with an outside temp of 18 degrees and got 35 degrees max under boost with an average of 27 degrees. I also logged in the recent heat wave, 28 degrees outside, average of 35 degrees and maxed at 45 degrees.

This was on a stage 1 Custom Code map running SMICs initially then the AH v1... I never went to stage 2 which from experience of cars on the dyno make things worse...

<tuffty/>

I should mention that the AH v1 is 51mm inlets but is a 62mm core... in hindsight the 60mm bends mod I did to the v1 I had is a far better idea but that cooler in the link is just a 50mm core...

The AH v1 is on the limit I think of stage1/2 tuning and the 51mm inlets were a solution to making it fit OEM style... knowing what I know now then I would go have gone at least for the 60mm bends on it rather than 51mm but lets not forget the Forge cooler is 51mm and peeps are happy with that...

It says its 550hp capable in the listing but I can tell you from experience that is complete rubbish...
