Armrest install advice needed for A4 B7

Hi All

This is my first thread

I've recently bought an A4 B7 2005 and have decided to install a front armrest. I've looked all over the web and car breaking plants to try and obtain one without any luck. I've searched the forum and any links are outdated/ non existent.

I've called Audi and they quoted me £320 without fitting which I thought is really expensive.

I know that there is some cutting out needed on the center console to fit the armrest, I'm trying to find a template that I can use. I have managed to find an online PDF on how to install.

Please could someone post some links as to what armrest would fit nicely in my car? Any links would be much appreciated.

My mate retro fitted his, bought off ebay for around £130 he said, there is an alternative made by Armster
Audi A4 (2001-2008) B6 & B7 Armster Armrest - Brand New | eBay

thanks for the quick reply. I've had a look at this particular one before, the only issue I have is that as in the picture this model needs to be screwed in onto the sides of the console. I would much rather prefer getting one which I can bolt down. I know this requires some diy i.e cutting the console but I'm good with diy and can hopefully do a good job of it.

Do you know of any armrest models that can be bolted down?

I have only ever heard of the Armster & the OEM one, but it's probably better just keeping an eye on ebay for an OEM one, Stoke,Huntingdon & Taunton Audi often use ebay to move on their old stock. sorry can't be of anymore help freddy.

Thank you for the links. I didn't realise links 1 and 2 were oem version. With the 3rd link as soon as I fill in the Compatibility section a message is displayed that this will not fit my car.

Will most likely go with link 1 as its slightly cheaper. Denfinatley a lot cheaper than when I called Audi parts who quoted £230 that's without the lid, bracket and bolts.

I will take pictures during fitting and upload once complete.

I was lucky enough to get an armrest assembly from a fellow member for the price of a drink. I then sourced the bracket and lid (leather-covered) from a dealer, and fitted it myself. See the full story here.

I think the 1st one is with cloth lid hence the price, but leather ones in summer are terrible as stick to it, the winter to cold lol.

Third one on that list won't fit a B7, it's from a B5 model.

Hi All

Thanks for the info. I will hopefully be buying one soon, at some point.

However major set back today.. only had the car for 3 days and already having issues. Wife was driving on the motor way when the car suddenly slowed down to 70mph. Having parked somewhere near by for a couple of minutes she tried to turn on the car and drive, now only does 20mph and some black smoke from exhuast. I believe this may be known as LIMP mode... Anyway breakdown assited. Spoke to the garage where it was purchased and they have offered to have an Audi specialist look at it and fix the issues for free.

The car is a 2.0 TDI only done 67k with full Audi service history, it's had a cam belt change, new water pump and full service and MOT before leaving the garage.

Any ideas what the issue might be? Doing some reading it could be a number of things (Cleaning of Turbo vain, head gasket, sensors, leaking pipes...)

Like you say it could be many things, without a diagnostic scan it's really hard to make a useful guess

Black smoke would indicate fuel, check if the maf is plugged in ok, maybe its come unhooked, although if you had breakdown guy there, they should of checked this, then again my experience with AA & RAC has been next to as useful as a chocolate steering wheel.

Hi All

Thanks for the advice, turns out it was contaminated fuel.

Bought the car on Saturday with some fuel. Next day filled it up with £90 worth of Diesel then had the issue. Apparently the garage found traces of petrol mixed with Diesel.

I'm guessing that the garage must have put a little fuel before selling the car not realising it was petrol. It's hard as I can't prove they put the petrol and they can't prove that it wasn’t me. Went 50/50 on repair/draining £120. Then another £90 to fill up the tank:-(

I'm not convinced that it was contaminated fuel as my wife was able to drive 100 miles without any issues????

So I’m going to book the car in for a diagnostics check with another garage which is owned by a friend to see if there is anything they are trying to hide.

However we must have done another 300 + miles now and everything is going well so far...
