Is it possible to get hubcentric type in 5mm variant?

If so, any links please? So far i can only find from 10mm upwards.

Cheers.

you can get hubcentric ones that centre on the hub that make fitting easier but not ones that provide a lip

i ran them on my old car without any issues, but you should fit longer bolts

What size do the bolts need to be then? Any idea where you got your spacers from?

I had this issue a few weeks ago, my new wheels are ET42 and wouldn't clear my brakes, so I was aiming for 5mm spacers which would just clear them. Asked some questions and people said stay away from flat spacers basically. Thinnest hubcentric ones I could find were 8mm from H&R, which I ended up getting Once I had the wheels on I realised I probably could have got away with 10mm anyway!

Really? I currently have ET35 RS4 reps and the front are near on the wing lips as it is, dunno if they might be mismatched thou?

My new wheels are ET42 also, so was thinking 5mm spacer to get them to ET37 which would clear everything. What wheels have you got, and any pics of them fitted with the spacers to show arch clearance? Is the car lowered at all?

Also, where did you get your spacers?

Cheers, Mick.

the problem with a hubcentric spacer, is that because it provides the lip for the wheel to sit on, it needs to be thicker than the original spigot on the hub.

That spigot is around 10mm on a standard car, so hubcentric spacers arent really available below 10mm. Not sure how H&R have managed to produce an 8mm one.

The issue with using a 5mm spacer that doesnt provide the new spigot, even if its a tight fit on the hub, is that it'll often mean the wheel simply wont locate on the centre bore at all. The centre bore on the wheel rim is usually tapered, and moving it out 5mm often moves it off the parallel section and onto the tapered bit.

If the 8mm H&R ones really do exist, and will clear the standard spigot, then those are probably your best option.

Damian: have you got a photo of the 8mm H&R? be interested to see how they've managed an 8mm spacer when the hub spigot is usually at least 10mm...

I don't have any close up pics, but heres mine, B5 S4 Avant on B7 DTM alloys and 8mm H&R spacers. Lowered on coilovers, taking a stab in the dark saying lowered by about 50mm.

I got mine through Virdee Autos on AudiSRS

My old wheels were 19s 8J ET35 with 235 width tyres so were a bit closer to the arch, gone down to 18s 8J (effective) ET34 with 225s and they fit so much better

Nice looking S, always thought the DTM rims would look good on a B5!

Ive just checked and this particular set of wheels are 8j also, so going with the 8mm H&R's should work with these also, good to hear.

Do you mind telling me a price you got them for, PM if you want?

Ok, cool.

Im not home till Sept so im gonna wait to try a wheel and actually measure the distance as some people are fitting up to 20mm spacers and still clearing apparently, then i'll give you a shout Damien, cheers.
