Hi all,

So after a few weeks of ownership and 1,500 miles ... im ironing out any latent issues. Pickup pipe changed, PCV valve changed (for an erratic idle issue).

Now i'm getting down to other stuff to get the car in top-shape before a remap and stage 2 mods. The car recently had a compression test which was consistent.

I have started to notice the car is sounding a bit rough, like a TDI. The exhaust burbles with the same frequency (it isn't smooth). The "chugging" increases with revs (as you'd expect). Is this normal for the engine?

Here's a quick video from of the engine idling ... though my phone picked up the higher pitch sound of the roughness more :

Also in addition to this, reverse gear is hard to select (occasionally) and reverse/1st are a bit lumpy to select.

Any ideas greaty appriciated, i'm quite new to doing-it-yourself :) Car has 56k miles, VGSH.

Thanks! (and please ignore my cracked cover, it wasn't me :( )

Sounds normal to me. Perhaps check the N80 valve and High Pressure Fuel Pump cam follower.

I should say mines had all the normal stuff done pcv and cam follower plus service and no fault codes just noisy mate

Thanks for that JamesO ... all is normal then, thanks for posting some video :)
Suprised it is naturally that noisy/chuggy.
