I'm in Maidenhead, so this car is quite local to me.

I assume it's the standard trim? Not Sport or S-Line? Not sure how to tell (apart from no S-Line badges on it).

Welcome to ASN paul, looks pretty mint, and very low mileage. There are a few members on here with 3.2 fsi so they will chip in. be prepared to mod it tho' lol.

Lol thanks Macdoon. I don't think I'll be modding the engine much tbh, the mpg already scares me so I'm considering the 2l FSI. I'm used to driving a 2l cdti 160bhp insignia which is a fully paid company car, so this would be a lot different I feel.
 
Don't waste your time modding the engine. To get any meaningful increase out of it, you have to spend big money.
I used to have an A3 3.2, and enjoyed the engine far more than the A4 2.0T I have now.

Looks clean with lots of toys and low mileage, but the mpg will not be good. The one you are looking at looks to me to be an SE as opposed to an Sline, meaning minor differences in the front grill and a different suspension setup. My mum has the S4 cab which as awful on fuel. I ran a 2.0tfsi Quattro for 6 months. That was reasonable on fuel, an mine being mapped gave our S4 a good run for its money. Currently in a 3.0TDI, although its not as quick off the line as my mapped 2.0T of 3.2, it is very quick mid range and once mine is mapped I'm sure it will be pretty much as quick as the 3.2 off the line. Mine did 41mpg from Torquay Devon to London too where my old 2.0T would do about 37mpg.
 
Yeah the 3.0 TDI is tempting due to the mpg.
 
I would definitely recommend the 3.0TDI. My avant is very refined and you would only really know its a TDI when its on tickover. It all depends on how much you want to spend, the 3.0TDI fetch more money.
 
That is my personal preference, much better than the other one in my opinion, try and test dive both and make sure your happy. I personally think the 3.0TDI is the way to go. As long as your not a high mileage driver then don't worry too much about the mileage on them as the diesel can take the mileage.

how long do you plan on keeping the car? 10k per annum may be considered a bit low to warrant a diesel engine... at this age though they don't have dpfs do they?? my advice is don't go for a diesel with a dpf with the mileage you're doing!

Will be at least 3 years, but expect it to be more.

What's the difference between the S-Line and standard spec?
 
Got my 3.0TDI saloon two weeks ago and it's definitely the best of both worlds (performance and economy). Although I do over 25k+ miles per annum so I could probably warrant getting a diesel. Mine has DPF too, but as I'm on the motorway every Monday to Friday it doesn't really worry me too much.

Whats DPF? I have no clue about cars lol
 
its a diesel particulate filter, you need to warm the engine up and rev it hard to clean it out once in a while, short journeys soot it up and can be expensive to change!

I have a 3.0 TDI cab, my friend has the 3.2 FSI cab (which is for sale) i love the sound of his car and is it mint condition... but i do a lot of miles, there is not too much a difference in MPG really, the 3.2 will be far better for short runs!

here is his:
A4 Cabriolet 3.2 S-line 67k miles Colour NAV, Leather , BOSE , & Cheap Tax '06 | eBay

Also, his has the bonus of being registered the first week of March, so the tax is only £250 ish, compared with £450 a year (approx)!!!
 
Tax before march is £270 i just did mine :(
Have a good listen to the engine as mine is chattering like a 'good un' :banghead: even tho we just changed the suspected tensioner. It loves to drink fuel on short trips (i do about 5-10 miles a day on country roads when working) Although the sound of the exhaust makes me forget the running costs. And on a longer run when we went to Yorkshire the MPG was a tad better 400+ miles to the tank rather than 300- :) but i do drive it like i stole it as they say. Also dont forget they love higher octane fuel and you can notice the difference. (v-power for me at 140.9 ltr)

Ahh thanks.

Yeah I looked at that one. Higher mileage than the one I'm looking at, but S-Line and it's black which I prefer. It is about a 2 hour drive each way also.

Did notice a previous thread from him saying the car was supplied without S-Line bumpers. Have they been replaced? How can you tell between the S-Line and standard?
 
I hope so. Need to work out how on earth Im going to get it though

And i would try and get an exhaust for it .. really make it sound so much better!!

Cool. No 19's, might change the alloys though but not bigger.

What exhaust's are recommended?
