Hey guys,

A while ago I purchased a Carbonio Air intake kit from Awesome GTI...

Thought I would post up a video to show you all what it looks and sounds like for those that are thinking about this kit...

Im really pleased with the outcome in terms of sound. Its not too loud and in your face but still sounds great. Plus its prep for the Stage 1 in the summer! Have had a few issues with the ECU getting a bit confused to the extra air (Hoping to get these sorted soon... May post up another thread about it. Keep things separate).

Any questions... just shout!

Carbonio always been a superb looking pice of kit but usually the gains are questionable, as long as you are happy this is the main thing, certainlylooks the part.

It's a beautiful addition for sure.:hubbahubba: The engine likes it too as I see it dancing. Time for some motor mounts and put more hp to the wheel:yahoo:

Looks and sounds amazing, Tim! Glad you're loving it  xx

On turbos the limiting factor is the surface area of the filter media. With stage 1 this should be fine, but for more power it's better to go with a CAI like ITG. Best looking of all the solutions for OEM'ness! Enjoy!

As Warren says, this will look fine and will work with Stg1,but for anything above that you'll almost certainly need a proper intake like the ITG.

Good to hear you are happy with the kit!

This kit should actually be fine for a Stage 2.
As the 1.8TFSI engine uses the 2.0TSI carbonio, the air filter is infact quite a large cone filter, rather than utilising the stock Airbox/Engine cover as per the earlier 2.0TFSI engines. :)

This hybrid photo shows the design a little better:

We actually ran one of these same intake kits on the APR Stage 3 Golf GTI (Mk6) which we did a few years back running 380bhp!
Despite the fact that we don't currently deal with APR, I can't deny that they are a fantastic peice of kit! and an incredibly good looking bit of kit too! :)

If anyone else is interested, we have just one of these left in stock :(
Fits the 1.8TFSI, 2.0TSI and 2.0TDI with some modifications.

Ahhh...I see what's changed there.

Thanks for that,as I can see why it would still work at higher flows now.

The previous one, plus the stock pipework would not have worked as well.

Hey Cruise, did you manage to get your ECU light problem solved? I am thinking of going this route as I only plan on going to Stg 1 and I don't want anything too noisey.

Does anyone know where I can buy one of these for a MY12 S3?

Hey mate,

I didn't get a light on the dash. Every time I start the car and pull away I seem to get a flat spot in first and second. I sorted the problem by letting the engine tick over for abou 3/4mins before pulling away. That seems to have cured the problem. I think it was the ECU going crazy with the extra air on startup.

stupid question, what have you fitted to get the "fffttttff" flutter noise? is this the 007/8p? or a dv?
