Tyre review websites are good for this sort of thing. If you're going to do a lot of miles get a hard compound (Michelins), if you're going to drive it hard get something with a soft compound which won't last as long. If you don't do many miles and drive very conservatively it would be silly to spend £200 per tyre on a premium brand.
Well priced sporty tyres are Falkens (452's). I recently got some Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas as they got better reviews than some of the big players and worked out a bit cheaper (£150 each
235/35/19).
But as sidibear said, would you rather £50 rubber bands stuck your pride and joy to the road, or good quality tyres that will ensure the car, yourself & any passenger stay on the road and not in a ditch...
