As those of you that follow this thread know i've been on the hunt for some fairly cheap track wheels for my Yoko semi slick tyres I have sitting in the garage. The requirements were:
- Had to be lighter then 12kgs that the standard 17" S3/TT wheels are.
- Need to be 17" diameter by 8" wide for my tyres to fit and the extra width will add better handling.
- Needed to fit directly onto the wheel hubs without spacers as I find this wrecks the handling.
I've been searching for a while now with the hope of snagging some Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels or any OZ multispoke wheel that is 7-10 kgs in weight. Finding wheels like this is a nightmare. I would find the right offset but the wrong width or i'd find the correct width but the PCD would be for 4 bolts instead of 5
I did consider at one point buying some brand new Pro Race 2.1s in the exact size I wanted but I have to keep reminding myself that I've just bought a house that requires completely decorating and I cant go splashing £450+ on wheels.
So........ (I expect to get flamed a bit here but) I found some Dotz Mugello wheels. 17"X8" Tick. ET32 5x100 Tick. Lightish at 9.5kgs Tick.
Only issue with these wheels is that they are currently polished and have a dish. You need to use your imagination a bit here but imagine these wheels refurbed and powder coated in anthracite and with Audi centre caps and I think they'll look quite good.
As you can see they look much better without the Dotz centres and I've highlighted the worst scuff on them so they should refurb up ok.
My only concern is that the spoke design wont clear my brembos. The GF is out in my car at the moment so I cant check until she's back.
