Right chaps, gearbox is now out and being rebuilt as we speak, wanted to change clutch whilst it's out but don't know what to go for?
My car is running 352bhp at the mo but should go to 370 bhp after full milltek exhaust fitted without cats along with a remap from MRC.
Now spoke to Jason at AGP and he said the flywheel on a S4 and a RS4 are the same so all I need to do is change the clutch. So is a standard RS4 clutch good for this bhp.
Andy

Of course it is. RS4's are 380bhp as standard!

I've been running over 400bhp on RS4 clutches for about 4 years now. Never had any issues with slipping.

Do you have hybrids fitted?

These are the parts I collected today for my gearbox rebuild, should be done the end of the week ready for installing.

you are not in a million years getting a true 370bhp out of stock K03's

your current "352" is simply happy dyno syndrome, and is more like 320-330 if your lucky.

An RS4 clutch is perfectly capable of handling any power you will be able to achive from K03's

Never said it wasn't a happy dyno but obviously you know my car alot better than me and the dyno centre I took it to. Love people like yourself who arn't happy unless your being pessimistic. Stock K03's? they may be or they may not be, I honestly don't know what they are as no history to back this up. Once all the bits is done I will get it on a dyno and see what it reads. RS4 clutch is being fitted for my K04's when these K03's blow up. Please tell me when this will happen so I can plan a week off work to swap them over oh wise one.

You decided to replace all 6 synchros, rather than just the 1st/2nd gear items?

There are plenty dynos around that report wildly optimistic figures, Prawn off here had something like 20-30hp more when he ran his car on AMD's dyno, compared with the dyno of the guy that mapped it.

Its generally accepted that standard K03 turbo's wont make much more than 350hp, with all the boltons and a really strong tune. Your car is apparently on its stnadard restrictive downpipes, and stndard intercoolers, so it certainly shouldnt be making 350hp. Ok theres a possibility that someones replaced the turbos with nice hybrid versions, but then ofcourse that would be a selling point when the come to sell the car and it would be well advertised. As such its surely more logical to conclude the car isnt actually making 352hp.

Theres no need to get arsey, its been suggested to you a number of times that the figures your quoting dont make any sense for the car and its modifications, and your clearly ignoring these comments and still thinking your cars going to make 370hp.

Yeah as once box was out the fitter said to change the bork ring but there has been an upgrade so the syncs had to be changed also, got a good deal with all 6 I think. The hub was the killer mate, it worked fine but was showing signs of wear/failure. Better to be safe than sorry.
Never heard of TPS until the gearbox lad told me about it, pleased he did.

Thats typically what happens, the syncros get weak, resulting in a missed shift and a massive grind when your giving it some. The massive grind blunts off the tips of the teeth on the hub and it jams.

Yep thats what the guy said, going to give me the old parts back, take some pics and put them up I guess. Box should like new I hope. Getting a really good price on the rebuild as I have passed him alot of work over the years. Down pipes are being made by A.A.S and they should be done Thursday. Once all back together I need to get the tracking setup as changed sus arms and bushes on each corner.

Hmm i seem to have a stiff 2nd gear from cold and also a terrible noise at idle when i rev it coming from the box near the n/s/f driveshaft which goes if i press the clutch, is it time to pull the box again and get 1st and 2nd replaced ??

Thanks Bradderz but bought a clutch kit from AGP the other week, need to get going on this really as it breaks my heart to see her just sitting there in bits lol

Collected gearbox yesterday, the guy charged me £295 to carry out all the relevent work and replaced all parts on list above. I'm happy with that I think.
HEKTOR you say nothing ;-)
