Trying to find out if it is at all possible to fit a trip computer to my motor. I have a 2008 Audi A3 8PA 1.9TDIE. It already shows info like Radio Station/Track Name, Directions/Road name (when the Sat Nav is on) and gear numbers on the display (see the pictures below). So was wondering if it is as simple as fitting a new stalk and a bit of reprogramming to get this to work. I know there is one fluid sensor which needs to be bypassed or installed.

What functions will be available with Trip Computer? avg fuel consumption, avg speed, What more?

I have already retrofitted cruise control + multifunctional steering wheel + highline steering module (ending with F).

Yup, just a new stalk and programming with the bypass or installation of the Washer Bottle Sensor.

It'll show Range/Time Travelled/Distance Travelled/Avg MPG/Instant MPG/Avg Speed

Also allows you to change Clock, Check Service, Check VIN, Add Speed Warning.

Trip Computer is split into two categories;

#1 is your current trip (resets about 2 hours of car being off)
#2 is your overall (will only reset once you tell it to)

Cheers jb0o,

Anybody in Midlands area, who can do this job for me. What sort of price I am looking for?

You could try user S8 craig. :) x

I dont usually write in caps but this needs to be seen...

Just going to say from experience of working with this user 's0000s' or as his real name Sumit is a messer! he has had me go up to Wolverhampton to his home address and have me do various jobs for him and did not pay in full for the work done.

Not going to go into full details here but will say that he has messed Nigel, Danny and Me around so if anyone does want to go and do an install i recommend you get the money off him first and then do the job!

Ash, well spotted mate!!
Summit, bit of advise mate, do not mess people around and play them against eachother as we will find out!
When you have been quoted a price, that is the price you pay! And if you decide you want more work done then be prepared to pay extra!
You messed Ash around big time and was totally unfair, you also asked me to do work for you and even though you had it done elsewhere, you still pretended you wanted it done to find out more info from me.

You have been advised on the above topic many times now. If you want the work done, by me, Ash, Nigel or anyone else then you will have to pay in advance!

As Ash had advised to others, get his money first, before you even travel to do the work.

PS: I have a spare stalk to do this job if anyone is interested.

Now now boys, play nice, lol. :) x

It was not worth naming and shaming each other but Ash started it after few months and he completely forgot to mention his bit. I spent more than 500quid on that day so another 50 odd quid (which Ash is fussed about ) does not make much difference to me. I don't know what happened to him after few months and he suddenly started complaining after looking at my post.

Everything was fixed with Ash before he left for my place in the month April and I paid 100quid in advance via paypal for parts, rest was agreed cash. There was no problem with that. While he was at my place, we discussed second job + price. He started on the second job as soon as the first was finished. The second job did not work out the way we wanted. He has to revert back as I dont want to drive my car with fault and it was getting late for him. I discussed with Ash to knock something off the price as the job is not complete.

Yes I agree he spent the time but on my part did I get the work done, in my case not but I still paid for nothing. On top of that I was left with other two errors (rear window + wiper) which came up on the same day. He also forgot to tightened few screws and the cover under the steering wheel was flying off while I was driving.

After he left he started complaining that he is not happy and I have not paid him full which I can not understand. Even after all this I was willing to pay + petrol expenses and requested him to sort all the issues but he totally refused.

I dont think I have messed anyone up, yes tried to save some money only when the job was not done.

Lesson learnt always agree the price upfront in both cases if the job gets completed or not, so that both parties would not suffer.

@Danny, it is not like that, yes I enquired from you but it is was bit difficult for me to travel to your place so I requested Ash to sort few things for me as he was willing to travel, other reason I was struggling to get hold of highline module which Ash sourced for me.

I had no need to go into the details but as you have brought it up...

you had me do a CE module swap over to get your fogs working which needs investigating when issues occur which they always do!
we agreed beforehand that even if i do the job and something goes wrong (as they always do with CE module installs) that i would swap it back for you and i would get paid for the time i spent doing the work. the fact that the module worked fine and so did the fogs and there was no errors is the cream on the cake! the problem was your interior lights started flashing and you said "i cannot live with that" so i swapped it back... from that to you having the nerve to haggle with me after i had put the time in!!

then you have the nerve to say you will pay me in full only if i stay and complete the job with no errors!! at 11pm after spending the whole day with you and just listening to you go on for half hour about how its unfair on you, you think i would want to come back and do more work on your car? like i said your lucky i didnt rip out all the mods i put in for you.

now do yourself a favour and do one mate cos honestly you just admitted to all the things you have done wrong.

not paying a hard working man for work he has already done is one of the lowest things a human can do... and believe me the installers on this forum already know of the situation so telling everyone how you are some sort of innocent is going to get you nowhere!

Re: the trip computer, From the pictures you car already has a trip computer, just press he reset button shortly to go from the nav screen to the trip computer, it may only have been £50 but on this forum people work on tight margins and try and do things as cheaply as possible as we are all a3 owners and want to do the fellow forum members a good deal, maybe you should communicate with ash and try and resolve the problem if you haven't already as you shouldn't leave him without money when he has done the job for you

Chris

Chris this issue was buried months back! he could have just paid me what i was due and thats that, i would have gone back and worked more on his car, but he didnt and so told him i would make sure everyone else was aware of his habits so that no one else gets conned.

if anyone else wants to go and do a job for him then i have no problems with that, just making everyone aware of this con artist and that they should get the money upfront.

In all fairness to you ash that is what a forum is for, sharing information and from dealing with this guy you have learnt that he isn't the best person to do work for and i think it is right of you to share that with anyone else, maybe he will learn now that any amount of money you owe someone no matter how small matters and you should never mess people around!

Chris

it was the principle of the matter... the amount he owes me isnt going to hold me back from anything.

but anyway i have said my piece.
