Right im new to the forum. I have read about lowering springs.

I have a A4 saloon S line on a 06 plate. I want a comftable ride and I would like it lower.

what would you guys recommend. im still running on 18's but the arch gap is just a joke

I did read somewhere that a certain type of spring will lower the car and give a better ride (I think it was H&R's)

could people post up pics of there lowered car on 18's or 19's

Thanks
Darren

I can vouch for H&Rs, I think there are a few options, although H&R seem to be the most popular.

The ride is firm but overall no worse than standard (with 18" rims) IMO, and I think with 18" it would be an improvement over stock. I could only get -30mm springs as I've got a 3.0tdi cab, but combined with 19" I think it sits almost perfectly. There are also suspension cups (think they are fitted at the bottom of the FRONT springs) which can drop the front by another 1.5" if necessary to level it out with the rear. They're from the B5 A4 and can be found for around £100 (I think, don't have these myself). If you debating wether it's worth changing them, the answer is yes!

A4 on 19" BBS CH Reps & -30mm H&R Springs (standard S-line shocks):

Sorry this is the only pic I've got, hasn't stopped raining for long enough to clean/photo it yet

just replicas :sly:,cant afford genuine ones . :scared2:

My B5 spring cups were about £50 for the pair. Also running the 30mm eibach's and rs4 Rarb which is a great improvement. Ride feels much more firm and planted without discomfort even down the back roads where i live. Running 18's on mine though as i thought 19's might be a bit harsh where i live

Tein S.tech for me. WAYYYYYYYYYYYY better than standard in terms of comfort and stance.
S-line on the B7 are way to firm for my liking and you would need a big improvement not a similar one for daily driving.

Here is a pick of the springs on my old B7. I liked the ride so much i now have them on my B7 DTM.

il get pics of my DTM up soon. i added b5 spring cups for a slighly lower drop up front in comparison to the pics above

Hi, are these springs made with the sline drop over standard springs in mind?

ie. if they're a 30mm drop for a standard a4 then an sline would only get say 10mm drop from them wouldn't it?

The advertised drop is based on the standard suspension. S-line suspension is 20mm lower than standard. So a 30mm advertised drop = 10mm extra compared to stock s-line springs.

Ah yeah that's what I was thinking. My avant sline seems to sit pretty low at the back (id say enough to not need lowering, though 10mm wouldn't hurt :)) though the front sits quite high. Maybe I'd need a bit more than 30mm drop on the front would you think?

H&R do 45mm spring for the saloon/avant, I would've got some but they only go to 30mm for the cab and I couldn't justify coilovers...

Thank you, yes i was running standard 18x8 wheels, et40 i believe(could have done with a little spacer)
The biggest thing that did it for me was the comfort when compared to S line, it wasnt crashy, just handles the bumps better as well as the corners.
you can get them from ebay or places like jbs. sure the forum sponsers can sort them out too.
when looking at part numbers the B6 and B7 are identical.

30mm is spot on for the avant, they seem to level up the front and back aswell.

I went for Eibach Pro's. They are a massive improvement in ride and cornering over the standards.

You'll have to give me a clue with the TPS, what's that stand for ?

Just to let you know B5 springs cups lower the front about 15mm not 1.5" (37mm) and were about £17 each from dealer. They have evened up the arch gap on my Avant so that front and rear look the same.

17 quid! is that all!? crikey. You don't have a part number do you? Or did you literally ask for 'b5 spring cups'?

I got the part number off the forum, but cant get the search button to work this morning???? I'll have a look if ive still got the invoice later. Thats if someone doesnt come up with the number first :)

so is the 8D0-412-103-B for the left side or right side or are they both the same ?

Loving the garage pic. Your b7 looks brilliant, what do your drls look like compared to genuines?

cheers fella , they are very good build quality but the drls are not as bright as the standard ones ,a bit hard to see on sunny days but can be seen easily when cloudy and even at night with headlights on .
