No idea, i've never seen it illuminated.
I thought it would be a rev limit light, but surely that would be with the rev counter not the speedo, plus ive hit the limit and its never come on, could be a covert Audi cam lol spying on us all. Cant find anything on google about it either,

just looked through the handbook that came with my car when new,and there's no mention of this light at all!

tony

Just wondered, as if it's redundant (an old alarm indicator for example) I may have another use for it...

panic light.
It comes on in my car when I lose grip on 60+mph corners.

very distracting!

I know it's a plastic cap with an led mounted to the pcb underneath. As nearly lost it when was replacing my LCD display. No idea what it's for tho lol.

I read in the handbook that can set a speed limit warning? Possibly related?

all b6 b7 a4's have them
and out kids a3 OP
im told its a light sensor no idea what for tho

Its a light sensor.

It dims and brightens up the display/LEDs when you go in a tunnel or bright light.

It does it ever so slightly.

If you watch the illumination on your dials and put your hand over it, it will change.
