Aircon moisture buildup query

I've got a water leak in the cabin.

On Thursday my passengers floor mat had water droplets all over it. Not thinking to much about it I dryed it off and carried on.

Yesterday the same thing happened.

The weather has been close but very wet up here in Scotland. I've had the aircon on flat out for 3 days at 18c or at LOW position.

So today I stripped the glove box out and noticed water dripping from the blower motor. Removed the motor expecting to see water coming from the pollen filter housing. But nothing wet further up. It seems to be within the blower motor assembly.

Could it be possible that the cold aircon air is creating that much condensation / moisture ?
Has anyone else experienced this ?

I did suspect the pollen filter housing but it seemed dry above the motor. I've stripped, cleaned and sealed the pollen filter housing. It did seem a little damp around the seal.

Hope that fixes it.

make sure your plenum drain hole is free from debris aswell as this may cause water to build up causing all sorts of issues :icon_thumright:

The plugs were removed ages ago. So I can rule that one out.

Just back from a run in the car and even more water dripped on to the mat.

I'll remove the glove box and monitor it. As the bottom of the blower motor was soaking again.

Hate water leaks.

Check under the car with the AC on maximum cold to see if the heater box drain is ok.

I agree, it sounds to me like the evaporator drain is blocked.

Big thanks to all that's helped.

The problem has now been resolved.

The culprit was the Aircon drain pipe. It's very squashed as not to take up space. It was completely blocked up. I removed it washed it through and checked the valve at the end by blowing it through.

Almost a pint of water and debris was removed in total.

Remove glovebox and associated trim.
Pull back carpet to reveal Aircon drain tube located to the right of the passengers footwell.
The tube should look like this:

Sorry about the quality of the picture, my flash died.
Once you have located the drain tube. Remove by pulling from the bottom first. As my one was blocked to the top I got a jug ready to catch the liquid when removing the tube from the top.
Once removed clean tube thoroughly.
When I refitted the tube I fitted it to the bottom first and blew through to check the lower valve was clear.
I then switched the Aircon on to full cold which blew the rest of the remaining water out of the system. Refit tube to top hose and refit glove box etc.

The tube in the picture pushes in to a rubber grommet that's fixed in to the floor. So its easy enough just to pull it out and push it back in.
