I have a 2000 2.5tdi. I blanked mine of and it took around 10 mins. Just removed the engine cover off, removed the 2 bolts from the egr valve which loacte the pipe to valve, slipped in plate then reversed procedure.

What's this? I could google but what's a forum for if u can't ask a question. Lol.

I am considering this too. Please can you explain what the advantages are of doing so & if there are any disadvantages. I would espcially like to increase my mpg - does it do this? My car is 2.5 V6 Tdi 2004 A6 Allroad (BAU engine). Is the increase in running temperature of the engine an issue?

seems v easy to do, saw a picture of how to do it on one of the listings on ebay for the blanking plates, simply loosen the 2 hex bolts on end of pipe leading to EGR valve and slip in the blanking plate (it has slots so it can slip in rather than having to remove anything).

Your's will flag an emission related code and it will put the engine management light on the dash. Your's need the EGR settings deleted in the tune so a remap is the way forward !
