It's been a while since i've started a thread but here goes.

I've been keeping my self busy recently and playing bit of catch up with westy

But first i went on my hols.

Then whilst on my hold i spotted this on flee bay and had to have it because i've been looking for a sportier steering wheel.

Then i wanted to fit a Liquid Gauge but didn't want to lost my manual boost gauge so i went for the pillar mount option and fitted a oil temp gauge at the same time.

took a bit of time out with my car and started helping big cheese with his little project.....

it's currently having a cage fitted so back to mine, i wanted to fit the liquid gauge the same way as tuffty has as i like the idea of having the the ODB port free for vaginal communication.

so i set on my way and here are the results many thanks to big cheese for the wiring he knows his way round cables...

I forgot to mention

i haven't been using my car for 2 months it's been parking in my garage.

Anyway just before i went on holiday i thought i'd take it for a spin as i was reversing out down the dropped kerb i heard a distinct metallic twang. whilst out on my drive the noise from the rear was very loud so i went straight home to find this.

Very nice mate.

Is that steering wheel from ebay by any chance?

Good work dude and just realised I was gonna dig out that wiring diag for you and quite honestly I forgot all about it... I have the memory of an actual goldfish... its my age... soz :(

<tuffty/>

its ok matey. i used photoshop with your two pictures and managed the read the writing. and figured it out. once i did it i then got them sent to me from Jim at race diagnostics.

I use my revo box to disable the ECU at night i forgot to switch the switch, plugged the box in and the liquid gauge start flash. for a moment i thought i fubard it... "mental note flick the switch"

but all is ok.

Edit : can't spell

I just looked at the pretty pictures :(. Haha.

Nice work mate, thought you'd lost interest, or stolen the Merc and continued using it..

Great update Tam, love that wheel. Whats it off?

Have you utilised the head yet...? ;)

Good work matey, I'm jealous of the stack gauges, liquid, and wheel. It must now be time to do your engine :eyebrows:

The wheel is off of a B6 A4 of some kind according to the part number on it, which is why the airbag was a direct swap. Not seen this wheel before so I assume it was an option for one of the sportier models

Im pritty sure theres a few like that for sale on ebay in different colours.

That wheel isnt a standard wheel, well it is, its a standard wheel thats been retrimmed by one of the many companys that offer it.

If its the one i was going to buy them the seller told me it was from a a3/s3. Havent you seen the companys that are on ebay that offer to alter and retrim your standard wheels for around £150?

It's got an OEM part number on the wheel which is apparently from a B6 A4 but all B6 wheels I've seen don't look like that!

It may be from a a4 then westy but its defo nott left the factory like that, its been retrimmed and modified to look like that. When im on my laptop ill post the ebay links and sellers up where you send yor wheel off to have it trimmed like tams is.

Looks like Dani is right just found a service on ebay for a steering wheel retrim. The end result looks like mine. £199.

Cant post link on taptalk.

Will do it in the morning.

Well im on the look out for a facelift wheel and im going to get done what tam has had but with white stichingto match my cream leather, thh i think its a bargain, brand new lether flat bottom wheel for £200 plus the air bag is sure to work lol.

I want a smaller wheel as the OEM one is a bit too big. I'm not fussed about the airbag as it's hit an miss as to whether it'll actually go off in an accident anyway!

You can sell me yours then westy when you get one :)

Nicely done Tam. That wheel looks ace.
