A tyre of the correct size will roll onto its edge when pushing on in corners! a stretched tyre will run on its edge 24\7, where there's less tread depth, when cornering it'll roll onto its sidewall where there's zero tread - big difference.Using the arguments above then a 225 tyre would provide the same amount of grip on the road on a 8j or 10j rim.
Not at any point has width, diameter or TYRE BRAND been mentioned.
Nor has anyone noticed that even tyre manufacturers have a suggested width for each tyre which is usually + or - 0.5j.
But I'm not on a "side" I'm just trying to explain to people the practical reasons as to why people run stretch.
There is no practical reason!
The practical thing is to run correct sized wheels and tyres.
Then you have another community of car enthusiasts who like to drive their cars ridiculously low whether it be on Air Ride or coilovers. The point of stretch tyres isn't for the look, its to gain clearance from the arch. Stretch tyres are FINE if you are driving the car at legal speeds, but it isn't fine when you want to start hammering it through roundabouts
These people are dribbling morons and should have their cars crushed.
