Quick Models Question

Hi all,

I'm currently looking to buy an A3 2003-2005 and giving it a facelift. Wanted to ask a few questions to ensure I didn't buy the wrong car and end up stuck! I have read all the threads, but still feel sketchy ...

(a) Does it matter if the car is the 2003-2005 split grille or the 2005- single grille? In terms of what parts you buy?
(b) Does it matter if the car is an S-Line or other model? I'm looking at an SB s-line
(c) What's the latest you can go on the 8P? Wanted to do full 2010/2011 S3 conversion, front and rear.

Thanks for the link! Was reading that earlier, very confused. Some 2005 (8P2?) models have 2-part tail lights

Am I right in thinking it is just the SB models with that tail-light setup? And if facelifting 8P to later models you just need the tail-light for SB or normal model to match ...

A: Yes, split grille needs a new bonnet and fogs, but the single grille doesn't. But If you're going for the 8P3 S3 conversion, no it doesn't matter because you will need bumper, lights, foglights, new bonnet, new wings...

Yes only SB, you can have them LED or Normal bulbs

Are the wings the same for all 8P3s? Thought the S3 had wider arches?

Now just got to find me a tidy, low-mileage, well looked after, black 8P (still pondering TFSI or 3.2 though) .... Thanks again!

BKDs are the diesels? Think im going to choose between 2.0TFSI Quattro or the 3.2 V6 ... depending on if I want to mod it any.

i'd go 2.0tfsi but if you want the V6 3.2 I'd go for the VW MK5 R32 Golf. Same engine. Comes in lovely colours and look awesome.

Worth noting if you didn't know, the 3.2's cannot be modded with any decent power gains without some serious cash thrown at it.

The TFSI is the mod friendly one.

Yea been looking at the supercharger/turbo costs for the V6 ... pretty mental cash but also mental gains. Out of my price range anyway. R32s don't float my boat at all, Audi all the way. Much more understated. Black or Lava grey Still, the V6 is a lovely engine.

8P3 wings are the same across the range... Only the RS3 has specific wings with wider arches.

Lava Grey is the best colour!!
