I'm having a few gremlins with the S3, nothing major but would just like to iron a few of them out.
Firstly the one touch open/close on both the front windows stops working, after I reset them the're ok for a while but randomly stop again.
Secondly I can't open and close the windows from the remote either, have tried different coding in VCDS but can't get them working.
Lastly one of the keys stops opening the car via the remote. It still starts the car fine etc. and then works ok via remote after that. My other key works fine, but then again it's only a spare so not had much testing.

Not sure if any or all are related but it's booked into Audi on Thursday and I just think they'll try and fob me off

Sounds like convenience module gremlins to me, have you tried new batteries in remotes, how are you closing with fob, holding for a longer period, assuming your codings correct.

I would remove all keys from the system, then recode all remotes to the car again, also go into each door module & check for any dtc's, if none, then recode the module with the non auto run option, then come out, key out of ignition, then key back in, back to door modules & code them again with auto run, see if helps.

Yes tried new batteries and its happened again. I've also tried different codings for the auto open and close from the remote.
Only dtc's at the moment are for key number 2 and also one for the fuel level sensor in the instruments module, that comes back when its been run low on fuel.
Tempted to leave the car as is for now until its been in as its still under warranty.
Do you think it could need a new convenience module?
Cheers for your help Nigel

Given all the errors except fuel sensor are based on conv module, stands to reason, but if its under audi warranty, let them sort it :)

Which fuel sender warning as the 4wd has 2 pumps with senders under rear seats iirc.

Here's the VCDS scan results for the convenience module and the instruments,

Not sure how the coding in 46 is compared to others, but that's how it came out from the dealers when they changed the passenger mirror lens. I've noticed also the key in the lock won't open and close the windows either.

Module 46 bytes 5 & 6 look interesting, seem to contradict eachother, have a play with byte 5, plus resync the keys to remove the basic setting error.

Had the car booked in for Thursday but I can't make that now as I'll be working away, I'll give it a go tomorrow

Cheers

Thread revival....

My drivers window has been stopping and going back down once the one touch click has been done...

it will then keep doing this and then after a couple of goes it refuses to move via one touch and I have to hold it.

how do I reset this?

Im thinking the seals are too tight as you can hear the motor slow as the window goes up.

whats best for softening the seals? bit of heat? fairy liquid?!

cheers

Mike

You have to hold the switch down until the window gets to the bottom, hold it a few seconds and then repeat the same while shutting it.

I did have the window motor and door switch replaced and although it seems better, the one touch has stopped working once. It's not done the dropping back down thing though so looks to have made a difference!

You may need a slight adjustment of the upper door frame so it has a smoother curve allowing window movement freely, there are 2 bolts for this on the door, even a mm adjustment will do it.

Hi Nige, How do I go about adjusting that?

Worked like a treat. just a matter of time until it does it again!

You loosen each bolt & just move the smallest amount, do up, not fully, but enough to hold still & test window, there are adjustable hex bolts aswell that are part of the same fixings but inside the door, but I dont think you'll need to touch these, yet, if at all.

I'll have a butchers, a little bit hesistant to start messing as I'll undoubtably make it worse.

It'll end up like the UPS vans with no doors like in the US.

Ah well. play on.

Cheers Nige :)

Sorry to bring this back again but I recently replaced my window runners on the driver's door and now the window is definitely stiffer going back up, when trying to put the window up it will go down and then eventually work seems like I need to adjust the upper frame.
Can you confirm what two bolts to adjust and also do you move the top of the frame away from the car slightly?

Can you also adjust the height of the frame? I have moved it as high as possible but still doesn't sit properly, do you replace the bolts for standard ones to allow a little more play?

you can also try using a can of silicone spray from somewhere like halfords. just spray it on the window runners and it helps the glass slide up and down easier.

I have tried to adjust the frame a little bit, the window still goes down when trying to put it up using the one touch.
If I also try and use the remote by holding the lock button the drivers will go down but passengers goes up.
Do you think a faulty motor or module on the drivers side?
I have also heard about the module software to be updated by Audi, could this be the issue? Would Audi still update my car 2007 S3?
