hello all

could do with a bit of advice on spaceing the rear wheels

would it be ok to get 20mm spacers for the rear wheels on this avant?

it really needs the arches filling out

these are 18"wheels and it has just had new springs from the dealer just before i purchased

would you change the springs or are they likely to drop a bit

any recommendations to get it the stance looking better

No doubt the springs will settle a bit in time, but as it looks like a non s-line, it'll be 20mm higher than the standard s-line spec. What ET are your wheels? If they are standard 20mm spacers and 18" rims should be fine. But if you want to remove the arch gap you'd be best off looking at 45mm springs. Eibach and H&R both make some suitable for the avant. Improves the ride quality over s-line springs, not sure compared to the SE setup though.

H&R springs and 12mm spacers = snug wheels

Springs are about £120 if you get them from german ebay like i did uk retail is around £170-200 looking around 1 hours labour per corner for a garage to fit. Spacers are about £80 a set for good ones and if you can change a wheel you can fit those your self.
Tints around £200 but be careful i used cappacino tints and they are rubbish avoid! Mine has small bubbles in a couple of corners and has not stuck to the dot matrix in the rears and they are not interested in fixing them dispite claiming they give a life time warranty ! So what i am saying is be careful when selecting someone to do your tints remember the old saying buy cheap buy twice !

As Marrow said. I've recently done just this and my costs were:

Springs £150 - Germany eBay, H&R 30mm springs eBay My World - autoteilemann
Spacers £70 (x2 pairs) - BM Autosport, TPI (inc extended bolts, don't forget to factor in this extra cost)
Extended Locking Bolts £22 - eBay, TPI
Fitting was also quoted at 1hr per corner...

Went to pick the car up today and found that apparently there is a common problem with the aluminium suspension arm and the steel bolts used which causes them to seize, which in my case meant that the bolts need to be drilled out. As a result I don't have the car back yet and it is still pending... My mechanic is a family friend so is prepared to charge the original quoted cost, but be aware of this if you're being charged by the hour on the job.

Must have put prices up since i bought mine ? Was about 18months ago i suppose! Seller is spot on and delivery is quicker than most uk retailers too so dont be scared to buy from abroad !
I have also fitted b5 suspension caps which brings front down alittle more in line with the back very worth while mod.

thanks guys

thats a great help going to get a quote for the labour tomorrow

now i know where to save a few quid on the parts it all helps

tints will have to wait ,but i cant wait to get it dropped

thanks again guys

hi mate

only just purchased the car and the wheels have only just been refurbed with brand new tyres

seems a shame to get rid of them and buy 19,s

as marrow says bit concerned about spoiling the ride

where as improveing the ride with lowering

although the previous owner just had new springs from the dealers at a cost of £320.00

shame he did,nt put s line springs on i would have been happy with that

so your gap might not be as bad as mine because mine as the new springs on
