can i jump to a stage 2 map and if so what will i need to prepair for it? i have a A3 TQ 180Bhp, im guessing ill need a new exhaust, can i just get a milltek cat back and or center section and leave it at that? i have a forge 008 and have all the springs available anything else i would need to do?

Thanks

Stage 2 prerequisites are typically a FMIC, larger downpipe, silicon TIP etc... essentially all the mods needed to make the engine feel happy... stage 2 maps don't generally make any more top end power but lift mid range up through more boost and ignition advance... going to stage 2 without the mods in place is pointless as the ECU will hold back power by retarding ignition or cutting boost when things get hot... the point of the stage 2 mods is to prevent things getting too hot...

Realistically you need as much done as possible before getting it stage 2 mapped, so a cat back and a dv is basically stage 1.. You need to add a DP, fmic, cone filter as a bare minimum..

I'd recommend doing an N249 bypass, not for any additional power, but because its easy enough to do and does make a bit of a difference, as well as removing some of the hoses that are likely to be perished/perish in the near future.

I am hoping to be a map away from complete stage 2 in the next few weeks, just need to fot the DP I have and the FMIC bits I have. Have a look in my thread

ok thanks, i have forge turbos set, so a new silicone TIP, can i get a new down pipe and milltek center section leave my back box standard or just go got a cat back? also sorry, what sizes do you recommend and where shal i shop for the part?

The downpipe for the TQS is a curious one... 42 Draft designs do one but it's lots of monies. The one I have in my thread is a test run for Relentless, who are pretty well known in the 8L section. I am hoping to get it fitted next week, and will be updating mine and probably starting another thread, so it might be worth waiting for the feedback.

How much more will a manifold do for flow I know there's a few to choose from but is it needed for stage 2. I want to go straight to stage 2 later on in the year just got to get a fmic, down pipe sports cat but not sure about a mani how bad or good is the original mani on the s3 ?

As far as I know, mani's are a bit different on the k03s.. The standard mani is up to the task of stage 2, and can be ported to make it more free flowing, without compromising it's strength. It's different for you k04 boys, you're spoilt for choice in most areas.

Can I get away with a down pipe millteck cat back and centre section then a eBay fmic, with my forge hoses. That ready for a stage 2 or is the manifold a big part of the list?

That would be the bare minimum to get a stage 2 map on the car, then a TIP and cone filter are reasonably cheap to add pre-map.

Sorry TIP. I have a pipercross panel filter cold air feed and smith air box, so all the above and a badge5 tip and then I can scrape a stage 2?

Doesnt really matter. Just make sure if you go stage 1 first whoever does it offers stage 2 at a reasonable upgrade cost - not having to pay full wack for another map.

I'll save tuffty the job of saying it: The B5 tip doesn't work on k03/k03s turbo cars..

If you were going to do a stage 2 properly it makes more sense to go from stock to stage 2 and save paying to get the car mapped twice, regardless of the discount on the 2nd one.

Is it not like a £50 upgrade from Revo 1 tho? I'd rather pay that than wait 6 months while saving up for all the stage 2 stuff.

I did it the gradual way, as I have had stage 1 on my car for a while, but I was under the impression the OP wanted to go from 0 - stage 2 in one go.

i know mine is an s3, but im going straight to 'stage 2' as its known.
purely because, even with a stage 1 map on all standard components they get very hot, power dies, and the engine isnt AS happy as it could be.
stage 2 ticks all the boxes. IATs are in good order, power is more consistent, and EGTs are in good order at any given power/boost level.

id never have been happy with a 'stage1' generic map for all the above reasons. i'd rather the engine be as efficient and safe as is possible, stage 2 is better for these reasons.

so basically, if you do want the most out of your motor, all the supporting mods for stage 2 are a good idea.
plus, even with the bolt on mods, without the final map, the car will still feel totally different. im amazed at my car with the stage2 supporting mods.

Yeah I think so... Just meant make sure if he decides to go stage 1 first it's not another £500 for stage 2.

Mines pre facelift so it's a ko3 and yes ideally want to jump to stage2 from AnD so if I go stage one then want two it's 120 to upgrade but ideally want to jump in at the deepens. My list for stage two consists of new exhaust system minus manifold if I can pull it off new TIP and a front mount. Better call up the bank tell them I'm borrowing some of there money for a good cause.
