Im trying to get the most out of the standard k04, ive got the dp, exhaust and ic sorted but am stuck on what highflow cast manifold to get. Ive read alot of mixed views on different ones and id like to know if anyone has any experience on the situation.

you dont have much choice of cast highflow k04 manis'

oe...
jbs-needs collector reworked to avoid misfire on #2 on some applications
034-cracks

alternates, tubular..
relentless (whichever version is latest when you want one)
tsr
spiderworx
frankenturbo

Thanks bill. Looks like the tubular mani route may be a better option for cost effectiveness. Anyone have an opinion on the frankenturbo ceramic coated mani?

They have huge runners so the EGTs will be relatively low. Im planning on getting one when funds allow it.

in design terms I prefer the narrow angle merge collector of TSR's and Relentless over and above the others..
No runner sharing is a good thing in my experience of these

Would say the tsr is a bit more robust than the relentless? And less likely to crack?

Lol didn't look how much it was, you would be ****** if that cracked in a week.

I'm going to be using a v2 relentless manifold mate but there are quite a few out there u can use just depends how deep into ur pockets u want to go lol but Sam byrant at the moment is doing a fantastic deal on the v2 manifolds due to the v3 coming out soon maybe consider that mate

Yeah, waste of cash to fit a K04 and be limited to that later. Unless you're doing some sort of series where you can't change turbo, I just can't see why you'd get one over a XS power or just fit a T3 framed turbo and be done with it.

its made from a thicker wall material, back purge welded and higher quality welds, so yes, and the price reflects this i believe

v3 relentless has its place... IF, they hold together
each version has improved, but they must weld with backpurge and have full penetration on that thin wall tube else heat cycles and 900+'c temps will take their toll sooner rather than later i fear

agreed....when it gets hot, you do notice the power drop in the version 2

What are you on about Jim :meeting: your comment has absolutely nothing to do with what Bill said. When Bill said heat cycles take their toll, he meant that it'll soon crack the manifold, not kill power.

Also, if you're experiencing heat soak (which is what that sounds like) on a hybrid with an XS manifold, I'd suggest either your FMIC isn't up to the job, or you need WMI. I get absolutely no heatsoak or power loss at all, even in 28 degree ambient temps, it's always the same.

collector area in particular, as it gets hottest as its the focal point of all 4 cylinders...
