Well the assessor man came last night and was there 2 hours taking an in depth statement from me, from the minute I got up that morning…I know he was only doing his job and helping me with my claim but they don’t half make you feel like a criminal,
The reason he had to come to my house was to confirm everything was in order and I did have a double driveway and a garage which is where I told my insurance it was kept at night, as they look for loopoles to get out of paying out, don’t know what this has to do with it as it went from a car park in the day.

Anyway he's sending that off to the insurance today electronically, I will ring them later to confirm they have received this and ask what the next step is..

I feel like a pain but I will be ringing 6 times a day to get this sorted…it’s the scum bags that fake these kind of things that spoil it for genuine people but I wont let this drag out, ive had 26k taken from me and I want it back like yesterday and knowing ive got got a car waiting to be picked up is doing my head in….I hate skanky trains lol xx

what thieving ***** hope they get what they deserve, this is yorkshire for you thats why our insurance is sky high. looks like i will be getting a tracker fitted to mine.

Defo get a tracker hun, I never thought mine would get stolen in this way, I was worried about the t**ts getting into my house for the keys but my car is always in the garage and blocked in by 2 other cars, so they would have a job on... I never thought they would take it without the keys, Ive chosen a tracker for my replacement car, not having this again xx

wich tracker system have you decided to go for? i may go for the ScorpionTrack looks like a good deal.

This makes me feel ill for you, and it could so easily be me - similar car, often left in car parks. I tell you what, any nice car I see being loaded on to a truck and I'll be onto 999 within 30 seconds, that's a promise.

I can't believe that in a country with as much as we have, people can so actively steal somebody else's valuable car - how can they be so aware of what they're doing and so callous regarding it? I'm not normally one for capital punishment, but for this and murder, line 'em up and shoot the ****ers.

We could do with more ParkSafe (insured, gated and security patrolled) style car parks. 20p an hour extra and worth that extra tenner a week.

Hi, Im going to go for Tracker Cat5 I think, A guy on here recommended this one or the tracker Locate, but for piece of mind the CAt5 sounds better for me otherwise I will be checking the car every 2 mins and I cant live like that lol, It's expensive but will be worth it.

Im the same now, every car I see on a tow truck, Ive been jotting the reg plates down and any company names on the truck, I bet so many have passed people with someones pride and joy on the back, I agree they need killing (by the car owners lol) more should be done for these kind of criminals, in one week 2 cars have been stolen and another one in a different area so thats over 75k worth of car....this needs stopping..

Ive got a secure car space now with my own remote to let me in and out, not much more a month to what I normally pay, just wish id known about this place before, but even then I dont think I wouldnt have parked there as i never thought my car would get nicked in this way..xxx

Great to hear you're getting it sorted...

Remember though, ScorpionTrack is Thatcham Cat 6 approved!

Sorry to hear about your car being taken, they are scum the people doing this, glad you are getting it all sorted out

Another thing to consider is to UV mark the more desirable parts on the car as no doubt your car will be in a local lock up somewhere being broken down for parts (it's a long shot but also keep an eye on local eBay sellers not offering collection)

This obviously won't get the car back but will assist police when they come across these parts operations

This type of crime is on the increase as it obviously doesn't attract the same penalty as burglary but still generates a lot of £££

oooh i will look into that too, hopefully i should know tomorrow or monday (bank holiday has come at the wrong time) whats happening...insurance have said if they cant find a 140 they will have to look into a 170 or a 140 with lots of extra's on...all depending if they cant locate the exact same...so trying not to panick too much about getting a replacement as i could end up with a better one, the only thing I wont budge on is the colour...ive only had it 2 months and far from bored with it yet...xx

This is terrible, sorry to hear this. :(

Makes me wonder if for the sake of probably under £100 to a company like Audi, if they were to fit trackers as standard and left the decision of a subscription up to the owner, maybe the thieves would think twice about a car known to have a tracker as standard.....

Sorry to hear Sarah...just read the thread..must be gutting :-(

Personally I wouldn't make your car too hard to steal from home.... the last thing you want is intruders coming into the house and upstairs, it is only a car (be it a nice one :)). garaged is best with a camera and leave it like that, parking elsewhere I disklock mine with the steering locked to one side...if there're taking it...it's going to be a pain for them!!

Oh just a word of caution Trackers can easierly be removed if they know where to look/trace cables etc, My Dads retirement pressy to himself (New M3 Convertible) was taken from the drive 2 months back without the keys or tracker being activated....gutting. It was estimated the tracker was removed (this was one fitted from factory) in about 5 mins, and less than that to swap the ecu over to start it. The gang was caught but the car is reckoned to be in Russia now.

hope you enjoy the new one!! :) and try not to worry about what happened, It takes a while to forget, I still check if my wheels are there every morning after mine were nicked about 5 years a go!!! sad I Know lol

Sounds like it wasn't installed properly. Sometimes "installers" just throw them into get it done quickly.

You would never guess in a million years where our engineers fit our trackers. There are no cables just lying about. Everything is wrapped and hidden into OEM looms.

Most decent trackers will activate if it detects any change in wiring too.

it was a factory install! no aftermarket cheap installer.

From what I'm told each car only has about 3 places where they're fitted (or more than likely fitted) once that is known......

Thats what I mean. Factory technicians don't really care sometimes. They just get them in.

Think it's a bit of an old wives tale in regards to tracker locations. There are plenty of places they can be hidden and correctly wired in. Once installed there is a specific code which is given to the control centre that shows its location within the car (This is what our engineers provide to ScorpionTrack). Maybe on factory install they are always installed in the same location?

Anyway, hope your Dad got his new car sorted quickly.

I'm not disagreeing with you just surprised that care isn't taken to hide it good an proper, but actually not half as surprised as the tracking company...or ****** off as they had to shell out...ouch

This sounds like a really good idea...you would this for the price of the car a tracker would come as standard, the new one is defo having one...infact its never leaving my site unless it's tied to the ground...:-(

I used to own a Clio V6 Mk2 and all of these were fitted with a Tracker when they came into the UK. Renault had this done and it was then simply upto the owners to subscribe - a sensible precaution though not many of them get stolen, in fact I can't recall any being stolen, and I am still a member of the v6clio.net forum ...

It does surprise me as to why auto criminals pick certain makes and models, taking into account supposed security etc. I guess nowadays the crime moves from breaking into the car to towing them away and stealing the keys which is where the hijacking and house break-ins come into play ...

JUST REPORTED AN A3 5DR WHITE BLACK EDITION ON THE BACK OF A LOW LOADER DRIVING THROUGH LEEDS....THE A3 WAS 12 PLATE AND HAD THE WINDOWS DOWN AND TO ME IT LOOKED VERY WORRYING TO SEE IT ON A NON DISCRIPT TOW TRUCK!!!! HOPEFULLY NOT ANOTHER STOLEN ONE BUT THE POLICE ARE LOOKING INTO IT JUST IN CASE AND MIGHT LEAD THEM TO ALL THE OTHER STOLEN ONES X

Good work, I am also keeping a very keen eye out at the moment for things like this!

Any news yet Sarah?

It might be genuine but if I broke down id ring RAC and all new Audis get 3/4 years cover..

No news on the car, Just waiting for the insurance now, my keys were sent off for testing last Friday so just waiting for them to come back then that’s pretty much it…just gotta find a new one….really shocked me seeing that today, I feel guttered that that’s probably how mine was taken, just needs everyone to be aware and if in doubt just ring 101 and get it checked out..someone will have seen mine but thankfully they have never had one stolen so they wasn’t aware and didn’t report it x

I've already reported eBay seller tithe police!!! Feels like I'm doing the coppers job for um!!! Why arnt they looking into all these things x

There was a few parts on other day from west Yorkshire/Bradford so I emailed the officer ive been dealing with...steering wheel for a black edition and seats...why would anyone be selling these from a 12 plate....also more bumpers on there to, sounds abit cheap for £450.00 do they even know what they are selling!!!!!

Audi A3 Ibis White Sport/S3 Front Bumper | eBay

You've got wonder about these things havent you??? A front and a rear bumper for sale.. Seller doesnt sell car parts normally? Might be legit??????

honestly speaking here but £450 isnt that cheap!
the bumper on its own is only about £250-£300... i have seen the older S3 bumpers going for £500 complete and there is only £100 saving in it which to most ebayers is just about reasonable... but yes some of those guys are getting bumpers and all sorts available and normally all up in birmingham and bradford :ninja:

Lol yeah I bought my S3 front, rear and spoiler from bradford. Quite a lot of nice cars up there. Saw 4! audi R8 in one day

So, did you check the provenance of the parts, or are you happy to keep fuelling this increasing trend of criminals pinching nice cars from nice people by helping to sustain a market for 'cheap' new parts ?

Have to agree with Mike somewhat that didn't sound to good on a thread about someone's stolen motor

Would be interesting to see statistics of accident damaged total loss A3s/S3s versus available parts for sale on the Internet.

To write off an S3 you have to assume a fair amount of damage has been done which has to make salvagable parts quite limited, especially things like bumpers, body panels etc..

This logic would suggest these stolen cars are indeed being broken and sold in bits, to the members of the same community which the victims belong.
Sad state of affairs.
