Warning noise when door open and keys out of ignition

Just had a phone call from the wife saying she has just got out of the car and it is making a warning noise (similar to what you get when lights left on) when she opens the driver’s door and takes key out of ignition. She says the lights are definitely off and all other doors and boot are closed. If she shuts the door (still without key in) the noise stops. Just wondered if anyone had come across this and if there was an easy explanation \ fix for it so I know what I’m looking at when I get home from work.Only had the car a couple of months it a 2007 2.0 TDI sport.Cheers​

She still has the indicator on lol!
Ourlass did same thing when we first got ours 3 years ago!

If she has left the indicator stalk in either the left or right position that turns on the sidelights for whichever side when the door is closed and locked. The warning is there to tell you that. Tell her to put the indicator switch back to the middle and the warning will go off.

The facility is for parking at night with just the roadside parking lights on.

I never knew about the sidelight thing so at least i've learned something as well (will still enjoy winding the mrs up tonight tho haha!).
