Hi guys,

I recently purchased an Audi A3 tdi facelift model on an X reg. The dials were not working, i.e. speedometer, rev counter, fuel gauge and .temperature gauge. The reverse light was also not working and the ESP light was on. The digital display works fine.

I done a bit of research online to see anything for the symptoms I was having. So I checked the wire leading to the speed sensor and it was cut so I repaired that and then cleaned the speed sensor and its connector. The speed s ensor seemed fine so I put everything back together again thinking everything would be fixed.

Started the car up but speedo was still the same but the reverse light was now working! Strange!

So now I still have a faulty speedo and still have an ESP light showing.

Can any of you guys help?

PS I've tried to read codes with a cheap OBD II reader off fleabay but have no codes.currently do not have access to a VAG COM

The speedo is faulty. Can anyone recommend a cluster repair specialist?

I'll get it up in the morning. Car's in the garage at the moment.

Clusters Uk are the best really, but i wouldn't even bother with that, get a set of clocks, bout £60 then have them re programmed to your car, if you live in the northwest Danio would be your best bet, he is a whizz when it comes to audi electrics. But that defo sounds like they are ******, just done the upgrade on my 2000 plate TDI(thank you danio)

The cheapest I can find is £100 for repairing my clocks. Will it work out cheaper to get another cluster reprogrammed and mileage reset? I'm in Bedfordshire so no way I can get up to where Danio is!

Car is still in the garage so won't be able to upload pics til tomorrow now.

Oh and ESP light is due to 01423 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200) being faulty. Found some cheap sensors in Fleabay so need to check if part numbers are the same.
