Help cars ****ed and stuck in motorway services

Right guys drove back from Twickenham towards S****horpe this evening and I say towards as I'm not ****ing there yet !!!!
****** gear box or selector or ****ing something has gone lol !! I'v gotta laugh about it or il get out the car get my lump hammer out the boot and turn this piece of **** into scrap and buy a ****ing impreza like I should have done ,,,,,,,,

Right I'm calm , so I'v been sat in 5th gear nearly all the way but slow for traffic , when I go for 4th it won't go in without holing the gear stick there till I release the clutch ??? Same with 2nd ??? 1st,3rd,5th seem to be normal or what I perceive as normal !

I could make it the rest of the way but if I'm gonna make it worse and end up with no fecking gears please let me know lol (ASAP)
i don't think it's gear box coz if I hold gear stick in position till I release the clutch it goes in the gear !

Anyone that can help its much appreciated and the sooner the better it's already cost me a fortune for a ****ing wannabe burker king in the services lol

Sounds like the selector is fecked. but im no expert
Drive home, but not like you stole it.
Try using the gears you perceive to be ok

You should be ok in one gear on the motorway anyway just take it steady, have you looked to see if a linkage as popped off on the box ?

I wouldnt know where to start lmao , I'm home now anyway but if someone could give us a clue as to where I should be looking il have a look in morning !

Yea id say linkage,if you have to hold it in place,it's on top of your gearbox,there will be a metal peice on top the box,with two cables coming of it,make sure the cables are secure still,the metal peice will move though so check it with engine of.

Also under gear stick,onto the box and under gearstick there are plastic peices that are used so could be it.

You won't believe this but the car Is fine !!! A twisted bit of steel that held the air filter up had come loose and was lodged somewhere stoping me from engaging the 2 gears !!! Dropped out on road after a bit of rattling , went back down the road and found it !!! All is well again lol
