My card got cloned in central London last week... I did my best to check the ATM but it looked fine... didn't have a "throat" on it... the keypad did not look fake either... ATM fraud must be getting more and more advanced...
Some stats on UK fraud: 5 tips to protect yourself from ATM fraud
Common types of scam: Keep Safe From These ATM Scams
Yeh so on the weekend I get a call from the bank and some C U Next Tuesday... has been having a lavish stay in New York at my expense... flights to NYC... 2 nights at the Waldorf Astoria in the Queen Suite... purchased a painting from a public art galary... had an expensive meal at a restaurant and even brought jewellery from Tiffany's!!!
I was fuming... felt violated etc. and hope that the Police track down the scum... loads of people were queued up that day to use the cash point... so I'm guessing a few others have suffered too. It sucks... could have been worse... once happened to a friend on pay day and his bills were due out that day!!! I was lucky... the bank know my spending pattern I guess and they will refund all the amounts in excess of £3,000 soon.
If only the gun law was a little more relaxed in the UK and I could find out who it was...
Be safe peeps!!! Keep cash on you or use cash back I say.
