Saw two beauties at an RR day recently.

Which makes me wonder...Why would ANYBODY go to a club RR day in a diesel Alfa Romeo and a poverty spec 8P? Strange.

Anybody else got any experiences with people at RR days turning up in the weirdest cars?

Oh god... he's back!!!...

Hi mate... thats an 8P by the way not an 8L ;P

Soot chuckers are a sign of the times (and on that same day I believe there was a monster beemer there that had all the torque in the world??)... as for the pov spec... aren't we all car enthusiasts? I don't really think spec comes into play at all... its still a 1.8t at the end of the day... why can't he run it on the dyno?

I thought it was more about the community spirit of car ownership rather than car snobbery mate..

Been out of the fold for two weeks and I've got my 8L and 8P's mixed up, amateur.

I too thought it was all about the community spirit and the enjoyment of car ownership, no snobbery here at all. It just seems strange seeing diesels and smaller engined cars on the dyno.

A friend of mine snapped a 1.6 Vauxhall Corsa Sport (old shape) on a dyno the other day, it pulled 71BHP...Because the HG had gone and the owner put a 1.3 8V in it because it was the cheapest engine he could find haha!

strange choice of car perhaps there company or leased cars id wished i could have come along to see them lots of smoke from the alfa i heard !!

Sounds like you were bored so decided to try and wind up the 8P guys!

Anyway didn't you have a "poverty spec" 8L :ninja:

Haha, no I had Audi's pre release demo car which had every single factory option other than a sunroof. (clearly to keep the weight low)

Weirdly my car didn't have intermitent adjustment for the wipers because it was so early they hadn't made the stalk yet. I even had headlight washers on an A3!

I miss you Westy, how is the S3?

:friends: is this true?

S3 is ok. Did the rebuild and now gearing up for a custom remap, and hopefully leave the engine alone for a little while and attack the interior.

What are you driving these days? Still got a Clio?

Still rocking the French bus yeah, it's pretty good.

What are you doing to the interior? Ripping it all out and putting a cage in I hope?

That's the plan. I've just bought a house with a double garage so I've got the space to make the S3 a full on track car, just struggling to insure it and a cheap derv at the same time due to NCBs and other ghey insurance stuff.

At least you are still cracking on with it though, times are tight at the moment and lots of projects are drying up :(

What is the cheap dizzle?

Not got one yet. Waiting till July when my insurance is up then I will be on the hunt for the cheapest policy for the S3. Looking for a track car policy or a limited milage policy. I'll then get a £500 TDI and that'll be my daily.

Problem at the moment is that most insurance companies wont touch the S3 and the ones that do don't do multicar policies so I cant share my NCB :(

I took my old school mini to one and made 66bph at the wheels, so there is deff some old random cars getting dyno'd.

I am gonna run my 1.3ltr Mk2 Golf on the dyno when I get 5mins... :)

I think Bill even tried to dyno his push bike and I believe we even considered putting Welly's quad on at one point but can't remember if that actually happened or not..

Try a company called REIS, their number is 01159 850165. They insure out Abarth race car for peanuts which includes total loss and personal health cover.

A Mini fair enough, it just seemed really strange to think of a standard diesel Alfa 159 on a set of rollers. Maybe because my mum owns two 159 JTDM's I see them as an old peoples car haha

what's going on here then, Jardo posts a thread to wind up someone who doesn't want his car shown, and then the post gets editted to remove the pics? I don't get it. Strange powers are at work here....

Jardo removed the pics. :) x

but why...

This is what I don't understand.

Someone goes along to a public event, Bobby chooses to take his own photos, and even asks if people mind. he owns the copyright of those photos and can do with them what he wants.

Just because come moron gets arsey, he shouldnt have to take them down, but Bobby doesn't like to upset people, so he kindly takes them down.

this offends other people a bit, so jardo posts the pics in protest against said muppet, then mysteriously they are removed as well? I don't get it. Something here stinks.

Ok, situation has been explained to me, and it's remarkably simple in the end.

As we suspected.

We publicise forum events, it's something we're proud of, so everyone can see all the cool stuff we get up to as a group.

If you don't want to be involved, kindly don't bother coming to future events, and everyone stays happy.

Just by turning up to an event doesn't mean you accept having your pics posted on a public forum... they are within their rights to ask them to be removed and it serves no purpose at all to argue over it especially seeing as this thread was started to ridicule the fact they were there in the first place...

To be honest, the thread was a way of cleverly posting a picture of the cars in the hope that they would have a pop at me in the way they did Bobby. I am not as much of a gentle giant as Bobby is and was wondering what two sensible adults would have against pictures of their vehicle being posted on the internet. The response Bobby got was IMO a bit uncalled for.

I didn't realise they had already asked to have the pictures removed from the forum, otherwise I would never have posted and ASN would still be rid of me. My only question would be why? Mainly out of intrigue, no legal or personal reasons. I simply wondered.

Bobby says he asked l them if he could use the pictures on the day and they were fine with it. I believe him, but that is by the by now.

I never saw that response so out of context I can see why this ended up the bun fight it was.. however... not really the platform to do this is it... deliberately trying to get a rise is not really what its about and the sort of action that gets you banned...

Appreciate that you were looking after Bobby in some bizarre fashion but you can see how stuff like this can escalate...

As the point of this thread has been lost I am going to close it...
