Sadly my baby was stolen from a car park in Leeds city centre on Thursday 24/5/2012 between 9am and 5pm in broad day light.

I doubt anyone will see it as they don’t have a key and the plate will have been changed but its SM12 SAZ

I got back to the car park at 5pm to find glass where I had left it, everyone says it's impossible to nick without a key so it must have been put on a recovery truck or towed.

Second A3 to go from the carpark in a week (just found out obviously or I wouldn’t have parked there)

Absolutly guttered…waited 6 months for it to be made and I've only had the pleasure of owning it for 2 months…complete b******s.

Please please everyone be aware how wanted these cars are (im sure you already are) I wasnt that aware and thought it would never happen to me….with or without the key if they want it they will have it... be careful.. x

That is so sad to hear Sarah. Hopefully someone will see it, but as you rightly say, it will probably have different plate on it by now. It sickens me when you work so hard to get and someone just helps themselves. Shooting is to good for them. X

I don’t want the car back now as much as I loved it, not after they have had it, so best thing that can happen is if they don’t find it and ill get another one, but just a case of when I can get one,

Audi Insurance have been brilliant, they sent the paper work out straight away and received it the day after, Ive sent everything back today so fingers crossed it all get sorted pretty quick, they said what normally happens with new cars is they will either pay me out or they will replace the car with another new one, Im just worried they wont find one!!

The new shape is coming out in Sept and doesn’t have the black edition option so if they pay me out I'm gunna try for the 140, 170 or quattro…might have more chance of finding one then..

I still cant believe this kind of thing happens in the day and no one sees anything.. Ill never forget the feeling when I got to the car park and it wasn’t there just a pile of glass and now I feel like I should be looking for it :-((( every morning i wake up thinking I wonder where he is...just feel like ive let the car down and put it in danger...im soft and i get way too attached.. the next one will not leave my sight lol x

Sorry to hear this.

Someone saw something. But ask yourself, if you saw a tow truck removing a car, would you question it?
People probably just just assume they haven't paid a ticket etc.
No one cares these days, alarms just get ignored.

Hope it gets sorted soon.

Thieving fooking scumbags..........I feel for you. I would make it my lifes mission to track these people down and introduce them to PAIN in the worst possible way. Hope everything gets sorted insurance wise and your back on the road in no time.

I can feel for you. It's all very de-stabilising. One would have thought the tilt sensor alarm would have sounded, plus CCTV in or around the car park area will have picked something up.
Question..why break the window if the car was possibility towed or lifted?
Disconnecting the main battery will have no effect on the alarm's backup battery.

Sorry to hear about this, hoping everything goes ok with the insurer and your back in an Audi asap.

I’m new to Audi so I'm not really clued up on the new 8P3 models but did yours have the push button start?

Reason I'm asking is because since the start of the year there has been a massive increase in the theft of BMW's something like 160 in the West Midlands alone and they have all been the push button start cars (E9x, F10 ect..). There is a flaw within the BMW security system that allows the window to be smashed without the alarm going off, the thief then plugs a device into the OBD port that sends a code to his blank key. With his new coded key he simply inserts it, hits the start button and drives off with your car.

to release handbreak etc, make it as hard as you can for them, handbreak on tight, in 1st gear, steering turned fully one way, they are a pain in the **** to load onto a truck/trailer unless you have a 4 wheel lift unit like the dvla/police use

Hi I hope the insurance are quick at these thing, i feel lost...

No my car didnt have a start button, just a key...this is the first brand new one ive owned so im pretty new to them aswell...just in shock tbh x

Thanks everyone for your kind words, I just cant imagine how they have took it, i assume the window was broken to release the handbrake...at first I thought it was a joke i even laughed and muttered the words your having a effing laugh...then saw the glass at the drivers side (my boss was parked next to me so i could work out which window they smashed) makes my blood boil to think someone had the cheek to break in and take someone elses pride and joy...probably thought oh well its a company car...no i work hard to have nice things the low life scum...they need hanging and id take pleasure out of doing it...rant over haha bit emotional at the mo...sorry xxx

I probably would just think oooh unlucky a brand new car breaking down or something like that...will defo make me more aware now and look out for audi's on back of a truck with one broken window lol

The annoying thing is how they take em with no keys. Lifting em up is one thing but surely that must be on CCTV in the carpark? Mind you, that's if they have it on and can be ***** to look for you. Am gutted for you. I hope the insurance works out for you and having Audi insurance may help maybe? I don't know how long they will make you wait before declaring the car "lost" so to speak. Is there a time limit on that? You're doing well to only be "a little bit emotional" I would be a right nightmare to live with after that.

That's awful news I'm sorry to hear that. I'll keep a look out but it will no doubt be on different plates and/or in pieces by now. :(

Which car park did this happen in? I'll be making sure I avoid it like the plague!

That's not a bad idea! I think I'll be doing this from now on, I'd hate to think I was making it easy for these ****s.

Sorry to hear about the theft. Hope you get a good result through the insurance.

I think I would have to get a tracker if I got a brand new one. My S3 was 4 years old when I bought her so thought it's probably below the value to make it worth while stealing. I got back to invoice GAP insurance just in case though.

Sorry to hear that, cant beleive it, which car park was it? Im in Leeds (Holton Moor) Ill keep my eyes n ears open on the estate as alot of organised crime comes from my estate unfortunately. But I doubt it was anyone from the Leeds area.

I think the police should put a capture car in there now if there have been 2 taken.

Also Ill never have the chance of owning a brand new car but if I did I would be having a vhf/gps tracker installed, only a few hundred quid on top of the 10ns of thousands thats been paid out.

Hope you get a new car asap and all goes well

At first I thought i must have left the spare in the car but when I rang home it was there, so god knows what they have done, police have looked into the previous car that went (that i didnt know about) and theres no CCTV that works although the car park says secure and a man is supposed to walk round...ive been an put notes on every newish car and a note on the pay meter...i just feel like i need to be doing something!!!

Insurance said they will write the car off fairly quickly and with having gap insurance it will speed things up as theres 60days or something in the agreement..to make things worse it was the first time id parked in there as my usual one was full so they hadnt even been watching it..im proper guttered if im honest and dont think its sunk in...all the excitement upto getting it and the way audi presented it to me with flowers and champagne, the car came up through the floor on a lift...just have it snatched away after 2 months...I am a ***** with everyone and i wont settle unitl the insurance say thet will pay, theres always a slight doubt as they try and get out of everything xxx

It was Globe road car park, near bridgewater place, I parked right upto the road aswell so it was on show (for safety I thought) im from sheffield so dont really know if it's a bad area or not, I was booked in a few weeks ago for a tracker to be fitted but i was ill and never got round to re booking :-( but the next one wont leave the show room without one.

Thanks hun that would be great, it had a tiny chip on the small lip above the windscreen more to the passenger side, that's the only mark on it haha the police asked for anything to identify it they pulled one over with another plate on...but i think it's long gone x

It was Globe Road car park 2 (theres 3 all next to each other) down water lane near bridgewater place,. im from sheffield so dont know the area x

I was booked in for a tracker last month but was ill and never got round to re-booking...one of the things that you never expect to happen to you, I got gap though :) x

Hey Sarah, so sorry to read about this... honestly cant imagine the feeling and the paranoia you will be going through. I know what you mean about being attached to the car.
I hope the pr*cks that stole it get their punishment with a leg cut off or being blinded in one eye! the b@stards dont deserve anything less!

hope it gets sorted for you soon without delay...

On the new audi a3 it will have electronic hand brake, do you recon they will intergrate this in to the immobaliser? Could make things alot harder for the ***** who load them on to a truck.

As for the insurance as long as your policy dosent say a tracker must be installed or that your not allowed to park in a public car park you will be fine.

My friend had a focus RS (new shape), hid the keys behind his fridge, he got broken in to (whilst asleep) and they actually found the keys! Just took the car, his insurance tried to get out of it by saying he should have had the keys on his person at all times! (idiots) anyway after a bit of a fight they ended up paying out. So dont worry you have both sets of keys and nothing you done was wrong. They cant argue.

and park it in forwards, makes spec lifting harder, which is how i assume this one was taken as a flatbed truck winch would have no issue if the handbreak was on but a 2 wheel spec lift needs it off so the rear wheels roll

break window, brake off, push on, 2 straps and away

wouldnt wish this on my worse enermy, its a living nightmare, Im scared for the car and also me walking back to it afterwork scares me now for who's watching..Only one eye haha, id wanna rip both eyes out if I could get my hands on them, Thanks hun me too...ill keep updating for future owners to read...im sure i wont be the last x

Really sad to hear this....

I couldn't imagine what I would do if mine was taken. Luckily I have a new style tracker system that gives me that peace of mind.

Hopefully will get sorted ASAP!

Ive been told all this now off lots of people!!! too late :-( this makes me feel sick...thinking of it on the back of one of these driving through leeds with the scum bags just laughing...sickening x

I told the insurance it didnt have a tracker and it was used for work so parked in a public carpark so its all fine, (i hope) its just me be para as you know how much they are..I dont know anything about cars really only how to drive them ooh and get one stolen from me...:-(

As for the insurance telling ya mate to have the keys on him at all times, thats bull crap, a policeman once told me to keep them out of the way of view but dont take them to bed with you as they will most likely harm you to get them x

Thansk hun, My next one will be having the best tracker money can buy...just feel like ive let this car down...i named him and everything :-(

Which car park was this left in? I work on Holbeck lane, did you leave the car in the car parks near City Square?

Just seen that you parked it in the car park near bridge water place, that is literally 2 mins walk from my work. Hope you get it sorted out pretty sharpish!

they have to get into the house first, if someone can get inside without waking you then your security is lax

I would happily put my new one in the same place and let the police watch it all day...if they agreed to shoot the fooker when he attempted to nick it xx

Shooting is too easy! they should be made to suffer, start with pulling fingernails off and go from there :angrymod:

As a forum I think we should set summat up to catch the fookers then hand them to the police on a plate get Audi to donate a car to the car park.

Imagine the publicity, catching organised car thieves joint venture between Audi and Audi-sport.net.

All we need are some willing members, a camera to record it all, a donor car and some heavy duty zip ties.

Count me in!!! something needs to be done...2 A3's in a week have gone and chances are another will go if nothing is done to catch them..we need to catch them give them a good shoeing and then hand them in..x

Sorry to hear about your loss Sarah. Unfortunately these things happen and thieves are getting more and more clever these days. You'll be surprised at what sort of machines/devices go around to allow you to get into vehicles to steal them. I work for Tracker so i know alot about car thefts as you can imagine.

If they smashed the window, wasn't there any broken glass near the car where it was parked?

Its terrible what is happening, these people have no thought for others, ive got a nightmare on my hands now for however long im without a car as i commute from sheffield to leeds and i cant have my number plate back for year and ive only had that 2 months aswell...just gutting ..yes there was glass on the floor at the drivers side...my boss was parked next to me so i could wrok out that it was the drivers window that was smashed x
