my 2.5 tdi isnt getting fuel as far as the front fuel pump, iv had the inspection plate off from under the seat and its primeing...my question is....DOES THE FUEL PUMP ACTUALLY PUMP FUEL FROM THE BACK TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR OR JUST FILL THE SWIRL POT UP...we are getting nothing at the filter...

From my recent and limited experience....
Here goes...
The pump is pretty pathetic and needs priming...
The injection pump is also pretty weak and prone to failure at high mileage also need priming.
To check the pump (in the tank) put 12v across the fuel pump fuse (think its no 28 but its clearly indicated on the fuse panel as fuel pump)
Avoid using the lighter socket power as the pump has a higher current rating, a cable to the battery live worked for me.

with the cover off i can hear thr pump in the tank...with the pipe of should it be sqirting fuel everywhere?Warning....

Correct the pump in tank only feeds diesel from the bottom of tank to a baffle. The main engine pump then pulls fuel from the tank baffle via the filter

The path of the V6Tdi is long young padawan...
and I've had very recent practice when it took me 3 days to get it to start after a fuel filter change!
well i replaced the pump in the tank as everything was pointing to that and it worked..all fine now
