Took mine down to a local bodyshop mate.

Imagine it'll need rubbing down, plastic priming, keying, spraying and laquer putting on. Never done it though but imagine it would be along those lines!

Plasti dip

That looks amazing mate. can you do mine lol..

how long did it take and can i just spray over the chrome grille or have to sand it down ???

Its really really really easy!

I took off the front bumper to prevent any spray going into the radiator, but you could just stick some card or newspaper behind to stop it too.
Masked up around the grill, sprayed light even layers waiting 30 mins between each layer. Took 4 or 5 coats, half a can of plasti dip.

Any over spray can be peeled or rubbed off, its great stuff to work with, very forgiving.

If you do go for this method, I brought the primer and gossifier. They sent massive tins of each so if you need some of that let me know.
I didnt use primer in the end, dont think it will hurt.
Thinking of applying some glossifier this weekend to give it a gloss finish.

I wasn't sure a black grill on a black car would work but that looks amazeballs! I love the contrast of the silver rings. Top job.

I would like to remove the grill if I was going to do it, is it possible to do that without removing the bumper?

Cheers mate, I was a bit worried about how the black on black would look. Thought it may make it look cheap, thats why I thought plastidip was the way to go, can peel it off if not happy with it.

I had a lquick look if I could just take the grill off but it kind of clips in on the inside of the bumper, would have had to pull the bumper forward quite a bit to prise it off..if it could be prised off. putting it back would be a pain too I would imagine.
To me it just looked easier to take the whole front off.

To be honest its not hard to take the bumper off, I did it on my own in about 20 minutes. Just a few torx screws and 2 bolts.
If your going to take the front off I can go through the steps if you need.

Mattroll that looks awesome I might have to do mine now! Did you do your fog surrounds too or where they already black?

And how much was the stuff you bought?

Thanks Guys

so do i still need to sand down all the Chrome on my S3 grille and also the grey parts or just clean and whip down the grille and spray over...

ps anyone in west yorkshire or nottingham done this before...

No need to sand, can use primer if your want to be really confident it wont peel.

I used half a can to do all that, plus I tested it out before on a spanner
