Yet another MMI - Missing Data Question and solution wanted

Right, from reading different articles online, i think he might have bluetooth.

get him to take the cradle off and it should see a few metal contacts when this is removed.

now start the car and press TEL, it should say search for telephone or something similar .. try this

sorry, there is no cradle with the car but the plate is there with the contacts showing. Looks like you can clip any cradle in to match a particular phone you have. I'm sure blurtooth is not highlighted in the slection menu. I'm not sure now or its there but when you try to select it it says its not availale or something

Ah if it says not avaliable then it works off the cradle

just get him to buy a compatible cradle for his phone and for his mmi.

he has an I-Phone. how much are the cradles? do you have to get them from AUdi?

New they're around £90, can source them from eBay, doesn't have to be from Audi.

Take this as an example Audi bluetooth cradle for iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S | eBay

and this .. bit cheaper Genuine Audi Apple Iphone Cradle 8P0 051 435 GP | eBay

thanks

They are both on auction so they might end up around £90. They are both the same so I'll see what sort of money they go for.

Looks like not much of a shopping list

For me
Battery Monitor re-enabled
Beep on Lock enabled

for him
I-Phone Cradle

I've already done the 5570 MMI Update along with the 2102 maps. I'm doing his tomorrow so I'll see if he looses the battery monitor as well.

Thats all we can do on MMI 2G - Suppose the technology wasn't there before the facelift cars to do more stuff like i said above

Ok, sure let me know tomorrow if it disappears and i will get the info sorted tomorrow morning/afternoon for you.

I wish Gary3306 had kept replying, he was keen to help but then went quiet. He is only 3 miles from me with VagCom

No problemo

Check his page and see when he was last online - i would send him a friendly reminder incase hes forgot

Managed to get in touch with gary3306, provisionally arranged for wednesday night for him to assist with the VAGCOM. Did my sons A6 5570 update and it went sweet as can be, only ran disc 2 once and it didn't seem to take as long as mine. He still has the battery monitor so he hasn't lost anything. If anything he has gained bluetooth by the looks of things. He has the cradle plate in the armrest but I'm sure bluetooth was not in the MMI before I updated. Anyway, chris. Is it possible for you to give some basic instructions on how to enable the hidden menu and to enable the battery monitor and bleep on lock as gary says he is not up to speed with A6's. Will the hidden menu be accessable all the time from then on without the use of a VAGCOM?

thanks

Mick.

Will get step by step instructions after dinner :)

If he presses TEL what does the screen display now?

Yep, it can be accessed all the time unless you disable it again

It says your telephone may not be connected properly BUT if you then go into settings there are options to set up the bluetooth which I'm sure were not there before. Thats good news about the hidden menu, will I then be able to enable / disable things as I want? what was the bootlogger or something you told me to keep away from?

Press TEL, then Setup then there should be more options there.

It was Bootloader .. Whatever you do, don't touch it or even look at it as your MMI will become in-operable ;)

I didn't realise I left my VCDS lead in the A3, which is away until 6.30 -7pm so will do then.

Hidden Menu
Module (07) Control Head

2)Channel 111 - Change saved value to 1 (MMI will now restart)

Bleep on Lock

Coding
1) Add 2048 to the current value -- EXAMPLE: Current value 123456 + Bleep on lock = 2048 .. New value = 125504

Press Do It

Battery Meter

Hold Car + Setup together for about 5 seconds - it may take you a couple of times to get the timing right - the screen should turn green

Now scroll to Diag Settings and enter

Now scroll to Car Menus Maske and enter

Find the Battery Level and press enter

Now scroll to the bottom and press Accept Changes

Press Return 3 times to get out of Hidden Menu

Reboot MMI by holding SETUP + MMI Central Knob + Inner top right button all together, the MMI should now restart

When it reboots now press CAR and you will find the battery meter present.

You can also change your MMI Startup screen to display S6 or RS6 .. I can provide the coding for these too.

Thanks for that chris. I'll print it off and take it with me when I go to see Gary. I hope he knows what it means cause it means nothing to me.

thanks again

Mick

It'll make sense when you see it .. Promise!

chris
is there no channel number for the beep on lock? is there only the 1 item in coding to add the value to?

Nope when you press Coding - You will be given a value of what your car is currently at - just add 2048 onto that number and press Do It

Channel's are only for when using the Adaption button.

There won't be any problems mate. All the procedures are pretty straight forward

Mark, I'll explain to you on Wed night what the coding is for. Its basically all to do with binary numbers. The decimal numbers we enter as coding are interpreted as binary numbers by the cars software. '0' means off, '1' means on. just like the switch on your kettle :) All will be revealed on wednesday night.

So is the car + set up menu the part you are referring too as the hidden menu that needs activating.

Just wondering as on my 07 le-mans there was no battery meter before i updated the firmware or after and unless my timing is shot I cannot get that menu to appear.

Yes you will need to enable it in vcds first then you can use the CAR+SETUP to access it

by the sound of what u can do for the a6 its not worth bothering with lol.

Not really ;) More functionality on the facelift cars with MMI3G

My son has a 07 S-line and he has the Battery Monitor. It wa s there before I updated to 5570 and it was still there after it. Not sure why I dont have it, I will on Wenesday night. My son never had MMI Bluetooth or voice recognition before the upgrade but he does now.

So when he presses TEL then SETUP it allows him to search for mobiles?

Awesome .. no need for the expensive cradle then ;)

Yeah, he doesn't need the cradle then .. Please don't shout :(

Forum lingo - caps = shouting

Doesn't matter though! ;)

Let me know how you get on on Wednesday ;)

Caps Shouting? I always write caps if its an abbreviation or its written like that in the book (sorry)

Doesn't matter - I can see this going around in circles!

Sorted. :)
Many thanks to a6_chris for supplying the info and Mucho Grassy **** to gary3306 for carrying out the instructions. Top Bloke. I hope I can do a favor in return in the future.

Thanks Guys

By the way, What is all that stuff in the hidden menu???????????????????????????????????

Good job - enjoying the lock chirp and your battery meter?

All that gubbins is just various checks to do if there is ever a fault, modifiying the heart of the MMI and whatnot. I just choose to ignore all that ;)

There are loads of things in there that are ticked that i dont even think I have. Lane assist is one of them. I've drifted into another lane before and never heard any alarms going off. (unless I was really sound asleep)
