hey all,

this is my first post, been on the fourm a while but like to take more of a spectator's view reading all the build thread's. firstly i would jus like to says thanks to everyone who has been willing to put there money on the line to trial new products and progress with there tuning and create epic build threads and thanks to bill for the sound advide he offers and products that have been full tested.

im asking the age old chicken or egg question but im after people's personal opinion not just the search bars.

im on a strict budget this month and wanted people's personal opinion if they started again would they pick the badger 5 tip and filter or 3" dp and decat first ??.

Thanks in advance

B5 v2 tip, you wont notice enough difference with the dp, b5 first to notice a difference.

Yup, argeed massively ^^^

A downpipe is a great mod for opening up things when the turbo is being pushed, but in a relatively stock setup like yours (an assumption based on the mods you're looking at) it won't change things a great deal.

The B5 TIP however has seen massive gains on even standard cars, and really opens up things in just about any situation!

Plus it sounds amazing :D

Badger5 first always I did the downpipe and decat first on my car and felt better but a remap made it work much better and stronger, but I'm still learning lol

Does Bill still only design the TIPs for KO4s?

I have a Forge TIP sat at home ready to fit very soon but thought I would ask.

My turbo is AUM KO3s :)

Not about to change any time soon I wouldn't imagine mate, whilst the ko4 tip is a straight forward bolt on, the ko3 tip is MUCH more tricky as there just isnt the rooms own there, and you'd need hear cables and heater lines all re-routing

Got to agree with B5 TIP as my friends near standard TT (tip and wellycooler) is regularly seeing just over 190gs now with a pb being 192

Numbers will have to be proven on a dyno obviously but the improvement in airflow was quite a substantial amount considering he's still not mapped ;)

i got exactly the same results from the TIP.

it really is awesome.

B5 TIP first. Great product, and sounds great when booting it.

hey,

thanks for all the advice , is the tip an easy fit ?? also i have a red boost hoses etc, has anyone tried the red bmc twin filter option and know if there is any flow difference ??

cheers,

Yeah the tip is easy enough mate there is a thread on here on how to do it the the only mission I had was getting the clips of the old tip but other then that it's simple enough

Definitely the B5 TIP and jetex filter mate ;) I fitted mine last week after having a panel filter and drilled airbox for ages, and what a difference it makes :D The DV sounds so much clearer, but it's not intrusive it's perfect and the engine note sounds sweet right up the rev range :) On mine you can hear the turbo spool up alot clearer too which is always good ;) What car have you got mate?

ive got a t reg 212 bhp currently has a miltek catback (quitest exhaust system ever) red forge boost hoses and a forge 007p with relocation kit , currently yellow but have got plans to wrap it soon

Phew :)

There are a few extra steps you will need to take if yours is a non ESP version but other than that B5 tip all the way :D

<tuffty/>

lol do i sense trouble ahead?? i was thinking of doing a badger 5 tip/filter then 3"downpie then remap. To me from what ive read this is the logical steps to take, would anyone suggest different from experience

doesnt matter about mapping with the 3 inch downpipe at that stage.
unless you plan on getting a fmic, then id say get it all fitted then remap, because then you warrant 'stage2' software.

Nay worries. I'll stick with my Forge one until I decide what i really wanna do turbo/boost wise :)
