F***ing car

Um old, recently sorted all paper work for my car and didn't see anything about a new one.

Probably a good shout though, cheers mate! Where's best for one of those, Audi I'd guess?

I have seen CC maps do that boost.. and some that have'nt...
higher flow intake combined with a high initial boost spike does cause surge.

option are clamp the spike with an mbc in parallel or remap to one which does'nt spike

Remap, could do with a new one anyway as I'm pretty sure its running quite lean. Which killed my turbo initially.

CC do not run lean... ever.. Hardware issue if it really is running lean.
Have you got logs of its fueling?

tired fuel pump perhaps?

No logs bill. Will get some done Monday. Fuel pump is 10 yrs and 110k old though, so possibly. Will have to book in with you and get things checked over, and remap if required.

Sometime after the 15th of June though if possible.

Are you running a hybrid? I'd be very surprised if its surge with a stock k04, is that possible.. Can they flow enough to surge.

may aswell get a new map imo. both of you.
the maps you have were obv fine for your regular silicone tips and filters, but the b5 tip is THAT good it doesnt need all that boost (which is alot) to make the power.

What's your plan to overcome the surging?

Current plan is to fit the downpipe, cat and milltek I've just acquired, together with a FMIC to help overall flow and see if it helps. If not then I plan to reduce the load settings in the current map via unisettings. If all this fails then a new map may be on the cards.

Mine was mapped with the B5 TIP already fitted.

Problem with unisettungs is that you take load off the while map, therefore you resurgeries down low to overcome surge but will also reduce load up top as well which what you don't want . You need to reduce load specifically down low, leaving top. End as is.

yes they can and do in some installs............. particularly those which spike initial boost on spool up.

a cheap(ish) DIY fix, without need for remap is add an ball/spring type mbc in parallel with n75 and use that to clip the spike.
forge unos for example been used for this, works well.

Think I'll give that unos mbc a try then. If I have room around the tip, bare space there. Or is there somewhere else to instal it?

Also I take it that it'll be just trial and error to get it set up correctly? Never used a mbc before so all new to me

I though i put it out there.
Could be that there's exess preload on the actuator not making the WG creep at low boost?
On my car (TT225) with n75 electrically disconnected i get around 6 psi of boost.

I'll wait and see and what this forge mbc does. Haven't ordered one yet. Keep swaying from that to a remap. Surely it would only need tweaking? Or will I require a whole new map?

CC map is CC's.....
not whole new map, but CC would need to alter "their" settings..
MBC will be cheaper for you

Yeah I no what your saying, is it an as good idea as a remap though? What would you recommend if price was irrelevant, remap it or just cap the spike with a mbc?

So who ended up fronting the cost of the rebuild?

I payed for new crank, £390, and new arp bolts for rods. Garage did the rest.

We arranged that I'd pay for parts. They would do consumables and labour. Whatever the consumables are.

If I was to get them to pay whole amount, I'd need a external vehicle assessor to do a written report and inspect car. Which costs nearly £300 and can take a month. And then the garage may want to take it to a small fee court. So just more hassle.

Bit of a s**t situation tbh. Am glad it's
Over. It really is worth going further afield and going to a respected garage for work like I had done.

Lesson learnt!!

Spewing. At least you came to a compromise that didn't completely screw you over. Glad to hear it's now behind you.
