Did the 5570 MMI update today (mine was 4420 so I needed Disc 1. Went without a hitch and only needed to run disc 2 once) and installed the 2012 Nav Disc. I have a question for other A6 users:

What details have you got listed in your Car Info panel, looks like I don't have everything. My son has an older lower spec car than me and he has the Battery Monitor and I don't. I have from top to bottom

Audi Parking System
Background Lighting
Central Locking
Exterior Lighting
Instrument Cluster
Service Interval Display
Vehicle ID Number
Windows
Windscreen Wipers

To be honest I didn't look to see if I had Battery Monitor before the update but its not there now. Can anyone tell me what should be standard and if I have something missing how to get it back. I dont have VAG-COM and dont even know what it is. Can I get it back without this?

thanks

Mick

Anyone in the Northumberland area with one of these VagCom Thingies that could sort me out?

thanks

Mick.

No Battery Monitor on my 2010 A6 so expect it was "removed" at some point. I believe that with VagCom it is possible to switch on a "hidden menu" with additional features one of which may well be the battery monitor.

I've been in touch with someone local with VAGCOM but when I private message him now the messages dont show up in my sent folder so I don't know if he has got them. DO you know if there is a list of things that should or can be enabled?

Things that can be enabled in mmi 2g

Hidden menu
battery meter
visual parking aid (if supported)
drl
oil level (if sensor present)
VIM

I have a 2008 A6 2.7tdi Quattro Le-Mans. It has front and rear parking assist with rear view camera. Not sure if I can get what you say. What is drl & VIM? You need the VAGCOM to get the hidden menu to enable these things DON'T YOU?

Ah you wont get that, instead you have the camera.

Daytime Running Light - If you have Xenon then you will already have these

Video In Motion - If you have a TV Tuner you can keep watching when you are driving - by default the picture cuts out ~5mph

Yeah you will need vcds to do this ;)

Where abouts are you?

I have the Xenons so have DRL. Don't have TV Tuner (watch enough **** in the house without seeing it in the car too) ha ha
I think I have both the camera and visual parking assist the same as the front warning.
I'm in Northumberland, I've been in touch with Gary but he has not replied for a while, (obviously working)
thanks for the feedback

Jonny is in Hartlepool, frequent user so he should be able to answer your PM sharpish if you choose to message him - View Profile: jb0o - Audi-Sport.net

I PM'd Jonny yesterday but got no response, got not more response from gary3306 either. He seemed keen to try and help. maybe there is something wrong with my account for sending PM's or maybe they are both to busy. I'll see if I get a reply from either of them today, maybe I need to try someone else.

I noticed he was online this morning when I was browsing.

Still no reply from either of them. I don't wnat to pester them, if they don't get back to me I'll have to take it to the dealer to get what I want.

thanks

Audi won't enable these for you as they're classed as a modification - if you're friendly with your service advisor and garage they just might if you persuade them enough

Do you know which ones I should have as standard (which ones I have lost) & which ones I could have enabled that I dont have. I cannot seem to find out which ones should be there from the start.

thanks

You probably did have the battery meter before the update so this can be enabled again, just say it was lost when doing the upgrade.

How do I find out what I should have, I cannot find any documentation which says what should be standard. Doe anyone else have a 2008 A6 2.7tdi Quattro Le-Mans that can tell me what I should have enabled and what I could have enabled.

thanks

Sure I just did tell you what you could have enabled??

Battery meter was standard

I'll tell you what was standard in my January 2008 car.

From the top

Audi parking system
Background lighting
Battery meter
Central Locking

SO I've lost the battery Monitor.

What else can I have enabled?

Yes you've lost the battery meter because of the update - get Audi or someone with vcds to re-enable it

Tbh, only extra worthwhile enabling is the hidden menu as you have most of the other things anyway which i mentioned near the start

what do I gain from having the hidden menu?

Nothing except enabling the battery meter ;)

Stay away from Bootloader if you ever enable Hidden Menu

If I can get one of the 2 guys I PM'd to reply I could arrange something with them but I've yet to get a reply.

ok, if you do get a reply, let me know and ill give you the instructions to enable the hidden menu and then battery meter.

just out of curiosity - your a6 doesn't start nh57 does it?

No it doesn't. It was an 08 but it has a private plate on now. I've read that if you loose something from the menu it has to be relocated to another location in the structure of things. Is this true? its not just a case of re-enabling it.

Ah right, just wondering :)

Nope, all you need to do is enable the hidden menu, find the battery meter, press the tick box and reset mmi - now the battery meter will be in the car menu.

Excellent. Does that apply to other stuff that will be there that I dont have enabled too.

Slightly different but whatever you need I will get the info for you.

I don't know what else in in the hidden menu so I don't know what else I could have. Is there a big choice? Is this Audi just been spitefull in keeping them from you?

Thats the only thing really to enable in hidden menu .. other things like beep on lock is enabled elsewhere which I can video if you like ;)

Excellent.
I need to start a shopping list. What else is there available?

All I have enabled on my car is

Hidden Menu
Battery Meter
Chirp on Lock

You already have the rear camera so you already have the visual parking aid
And you said you didnt want the video in motion

Thats about it really!

With the newer facelift cars you can do so much more like needle sweep, turbo gauge, oil temp, lap timer, passenger side mirror tilt - unfortunately none of these are avaliable on our cars

I dont have the TV installed so the video on the move doesn't matter. My son has an 07 s-line with the phone cradle in the consol but no bluetooth. Is it just a case of enabling it in his hidden menu?

Ah, I must've misread one of your other posts

Is the cradle on the dashboard or under the centre armrest?

Right, from reading different articles online, i think he might have bluetooth.

get him to take the cradle off and it should see a few metal contacts when this is removed.

now start the car and press TEL, it should say search for telephone or something similar .. try this
