Hi all, I've got my heart set on a new 3.0 TDi Quattro S-Tronic BE so in the process of saving up some cash for the deposit at the minute.

I'm up in Aberdeen and was curious if anyone on here has bought a new car from Aberdeen Audi recently and did they manage to get a deal or anything? Or advice in general on bringing them down in price a bit because I'm crap at that kind of thing? Once I have enough of a deposit together I'll make sure I head at the end of the month in case they have a couple more sales needed to fill their quota but any advice beyond that would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance lads. :)

I'm not sure what deals can be had at Aberdeen. When ever I buy a car I always focus on the finance deal given that the total you pay includes the interest. Also make sure you get them to include all the extras such as gap insurance before you agree to purchase the car, or you will find your payments will increase as they tend to offer those when you come in to sign the finance deal a week before you pick the car up. When I ordered my car from Bristol Audi 2 months ago I looked at the order form found they had put some of the options as free or at a huge discount - it saved me around £100pm on the repayment.

Gotcha, I'll make sure I do that. Not really any money off the basic car price though huh? Shame... I'll have to see if anyone has any direct experience with Aberdeen Audi who wants to share! :)

I bought from Aberdeen and they were fantastic. I cannot fault them. I haggled them for two days until I got the deal that I wanted. I went in wanting 10% of list and I achieved that. The end of the month seems to be a good time to go in as they will have targets to meet. I got a fantastic part-ex too.

Key is use your head not your heart. If you don't get what you want then be prepared to walk away!

Get an online broker estimate - I used newcar4me, autobytel and broadspeed to see how much of a margin there was in what I was buying.

Phone around dealers who are in different groups..Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or further afield if you can travel. Barter with each other until you wear them down ;) Remember, we are in a recession and they need your business.

I am on my fourth new Audi and can say Aberdeen have been the best I have dealt with. Let us know how you get on!

Never bought a car from Aberdeen Audi because, in general, they don't need to discount their cars as they sell them anyway. I bought mine from Dundee Audi as its just down the road.

What I would do if I were you is go get your quote from Aberdeen Audi, then go to another couple dealers to beat them. I got my quote from Dundee, then went to Stirling, who beat them, then to Perth, who beat Stirling, then back to Dundee who beat Perth, and ended up with the best deal I could. In the end, I got £30 per month off, got the matallic paint thrown in, and then got the wheel and tyre insurance and Gap insurance included also. As well as a 10% discount on the list price of the car in the first place.

Definitely worth doing, and will only take you a day and a tank of fuel (at most) to get out and about to get the best deal.

Well I went to the dealership today with a workmate and might have bought a car by accident...

Got a good deal and came away with the 3.0 TDi quattro s-tronic black edition in scuba blue with the tech pack high, heated seats and the interior light package. Everything else I wanted was included in the BE package so I'm a really happy bunny. Long delivery time though - mid Novemeber!

Thanks for all the replies and for adding me to the Scottish members list, I'll look forward to joining a meet over winter (if you have any! lol).

That's good bud, welcome to the Audi scene :)

I really like my first Audi with my only grumble being the lower than expected mpg however this being said i can still get 40mpg running from Westhill to Riverside Drive everyday which isn't bad (just not as good as advertised)

Brilliant sporty cars though.

Yeah I was speaking to the salesman who was saying 40mpg was a more realistic value but I'm still happy with that since my car just now is getting low 20's...

Love the torque and transmission combo when I drove it... Awesome. And hoping for a really snowy winter to use the benefit of the quattro a bit as well. ;)

last thursday of the month is best

Good luck getting 40 mpg out of the 3 litre. I got 31 mpg today coming from Arbroath to Aberdeen in my 2 litre tdi quattro, mostly on cruise at speeds that dont set cameras off.

Hey good work. The facelifted black edition looks fantastic. Long wait though but worth it when you get the keys :)

I'm sure it will be, thanks fella! :) Going back for another test drive at some point to make sure I'm happy with the engine/transmission combo because it's a lot more money and everything... But it's the only quattro/DSG/diesel combo anyway, which it what I wanted so I'll most likely stick with it. Haha.

Is it S-tronic or Multitronic? Must say I am really impressed with the S-tronic. It's a really smooth box. However I miss the manual when I'm in a hurry. The auto seems to get confused on exiting sharp corners, getting bogged down in thewrong gear. It certainly changes your driving style. Take it on the back roads on your next test. The paddle shift is great but the box seems to take over even in manual mode. I've found myself in 1st a few times on the downshift LOL!.

It's definitely an S-tronic as that's the only DSG transmission availible with quattro... The Multitronic is only front wheel drive.

I test drove a 5 door A5 with the engine/transmission combo and loved it! Took it down some country roads and once I started using the paddles I found it really addicitve and never had any issues with what gear I was in or anything. The only time I noticed a slight delay is when I came off the throttle and then back on fairly quickly and it took a sec to catch up. In all fairness though, it's still probably less time than if you had to let up the clutch pedal but I think I noticed it more because I didn't have to do that! Haha.

Yet to try it in traffic but will do that a bit later in the week I think. :) The salesman was really good and offered for me to take it out for a couple hours to really get a feel for it since I've bought one now anyway. Lol.

The S-tronic is a great box, I tried it in manual for the first time yesterday on my S4 and was very impressed and it only changed when I wanted it too. I was concerned when I ordered the car as it I wanted a manual but the car is s- tronic only now but have to say that I've been won over.
I hope you enjoy yours when it arrives.

Thanks very much guys! :)

Now I'm just having second thoughts about the Scuba Blue as I've seen some of the Lava and Daytona Grey cars and really like them. I know everyone will say their colour is best but is there any opinion on colours that look best on the BE's?

I took delivery of S4 BE in this colour combination MY2012 in April this year.....:racer:

It was either black or the Lava for me, went grey as my last one was black. Are you pleased with the seat colour? I love them and glad I didn't just go with black.
Get some pics up!

Very pleased. Otherwise with the BE meaning the interior trim is piano black it would have been a tad dark. The red is a good offset. Everyone comments on how effective it looks and how they would not have chosen it but having seen it in the flesh, would do so now. Especially like the fact that the red extends into the door panels.:racer:

Yes I agree, if you take a photo of them they look a lot brighter. What extras did you spec?

That looks really nice! My only worry is that the grey is a bit... Grey. lol. I don't know if I'd end up sorry I didn't get something more colourful? I had a Cosmic Grey Civic that I loved though... So many decisions! Haha.

It's almost black but has a lot of sparkly bits! In it when the sun shines on it. Mind you it's as bad to keep clean as black!

Sunroof, rear electric blind, dynamic steering, quattro sports diff, drive select, adaptive cruise control, hill assist, keyless entry, high beam assist, Tech pack high, parking system plus with reversing camera, heated front and rear seats, door mirrors electrically folding and auto dimming, adaptive headlights with turning light, tyre pressure loss indicator, damper control, rear side airbags.........plus the aforementioned super sports seats and through load facility......and the normal BE items........:racer:

I should have asked what didn't you get! Mine is as follows S4 avant BE, black and magma super duper seats with the pointless load through bit, heated front seats, folding and dimming mirrors, drive select, sports diff, storage pack, tech pack high.
The BE spec is well worth the extra especially with the B&O sound, toyed with the hill hold but after having the car for a couple of weeks I can't really see the point of it with the s-tronic gearbox, what do you reckon?

Sorry, I was meaning that it's not an option with a normal A4 rather than an S4 BE. :)

Might have to see if they have a lava grey car when I head back up on Sunday. ;) And a Daytona grey. And a scuba blue. Lol.

If Daytona was available on the S4 I'd have gone with it. Looks great with the black optics.

That's what I was thinking actually... Love the RS4s in Daytona Grey with the optics pack. :D Like I say, I'll just have to take a look on Sunday to see them in the metal! :)

Seemed a good idea at the time.....but have yet to switch on!!! The B&O sound system is excellent.

I went a tad overboard with the extras!!!!! Started and then couldnt stop!!!

That daytona grey is superb.I believe that you can have it on any car as a special (about two grand). In fact i think there was a bloke that supplied audi with bmw's alpina white for his order.

With the dsg box and auto handbrake is hill assist really necessary.

Following process seems easy enough. Come to rest at slight incline, apply brake, engage handbrake. Press accelerator to automatically disengage handbrake and shoot off.

I tend to agree, I haven't had any issues with mine on hills yet. Once in drive with foot off the brake it just creeps forward.
