So, the Giac Flash Loader.

GIAC B8 S4 Flashloader - YouTube

£120 for the unit apparently. plus £100 for maps... according to some rough translating from US Sites...

Anyone got one of these yet??

on the Giac usa site the have Statller as their dealer for UK

I have one for my car, allows switching between stock and pump (mapped). Also has additional programs as options including race for 102 octane fuel, valet for low boost and kill for engine immobiliser. Just plug into the port below the steering wheel and map takes about 2 seconds to change, can even be done on the move butt not sure why you'd want to.
Good smooth remap as well, strongly recommended (but then I would). Got my remap done by autograph cars as they were closestat the time, the planned stage 2+ work well be done by stattler. Hope this helps :)

I bought one last year as I thought I was going for a GIAC remap for my car, though I ended up selling it for £40 and going for a Shark Performance remap instead and buying their STS hand-held mapping unit. You have to visit a GIAC dealer to have the original remap loaded up to your car, but Shark can send the map to your STS unit remotely, so you don't even have to leave your home in order to have your car remapped. Don't know about the £100 cost for GIAC maps though, ..their A3 8P maps range from £325 to £499 on the Star Performance website (GIAC dealer in Scotland). xx

I had one - as Reload says, they're dead easy. I liked the total kill feature whereby the car would remain immobilised even if started with the keys. I found the GIAC map to be lovely - smooth but very torquey.

Paulie's right though, maps in the UK are way more than that. My stage 1 S3 map was around £400 from the great guys at Autograph, but was free thereafter to get the revised maps for stage 2 etc.

Now the S3s gone, my Flashloader's up for sale for £50 in as new condition - PM me if you want it...

i'm in between the flasher loader and the Vtech Bluebox, just waiting till monday too see what Tractative say about it.

Vtech Bluebox seems to be the best of both worlds with economy maps and Performance maps all pre-loaded.

My original map is built onto my flashloader! I have standard(stock), pump(stage2+), kill and valet plus race for 102 octane fuel.

Did GIAC send you the Flashloader with the remap already loaded onto it? I thought you had to visit a GIAC dealer to have the initial mapping done on site. Every day's a school day, lol. xx

Sorry my bad, yes I did have all the maps loaded on at stattlers then I just swap and change them as and when with the flash loader.

general concensus is revo or shark a lot have switched from giac
Ive never heard of any problems with giac and people changing, there seems to be a hell of lot of people with misfire issues and poor bhp increases with revo and shark!

think the issues usually occur at stage 2 onwards i can only account for what i have seen as i personally have never experienced any of the three

+1 to that!

I read of issues with other maps, but was very happy indeed with my stage 2 GIAC ("extreme") map for the 18 months I had it on the S3.

Smooth, plenty of torque rich urge, useful kill switch - pretty faultless really...

Yes exactly the same here! Never heard of any Giac issues whatsoever.
