Hi guys,

Just settling into my s3 now but would really like auto lights/ wipers function.

My car is a 2008 08 3dr s3 with cream headlining.

I think I need windscreen, sensor, auto dim rear view mirror, light switch and then wiring.

Can anybody please help me out with part number for the bits I need and also can anybody think of anything I've missed off?

I may also in the future look to upgrade the wing mirrors to facelift folding/auto dimming ones. Is there any wiring I can do when do the auto lights/wipers retro fit to aid this?

Cheers

Rob

Hi,

I'm part way through doing this install. Have all the wiring in and tested. Just need to feed the connectors up to near the interior light/mirror area and get a new windscreen.

I bought a loom from Kufatec which helped with the wiring:
KUFATEC GmbH & Co. KG - Rainsensing Interior Mirror - Harness - Audi A3 8P 33788

The wiring part is not as bad as it looks. I think I had to tap in to two existing wires in the Central Electrics (CE) module and the rest were empty which just need a socket/wire adding.

I picked up a TT (or was it the Cabrio) mirror which I believe/hope should fit.

Yeah, that list you have is pretty much it. Think you may need a silver circular bracket for the sensor which I just happen to have here which is part number 4F0 907 671 A.

My TT/Cabrio mirror is 8J0 857 511 4PK (4PK is for Soul Black colour so you would need one in the cream colour I guess, not sure what the proper A3 part number is).

The rain/light sensor I have is 4E0 955 559 E.

For the auto dimming wing mirrors there are two wires that need to come from the rear view mirror connector to the door mirrors. I haven't worried about this for now but may route some cable when I come to finishing this off.

Hope that helps a bit.

hi pal,

Thanks for that. How different is the tt mirror from the a3?

Here you go Rob,

8J2 941 531 E 4PK - Auto headlights switch - buy from audi £70 ish
4D0 971 636 - Coming home connector - buy from audi £3.16
8R0 857 511 - auto-dimming mirror - Listed by Fangio - also this one comes with the plastic cover i mention below Audi A3 S3 A4 A5 A6 Auto Dimming Rear View Interior Mirror Electric 8P08575111YE | eBay
4F0 907 671 A - retaining clip for sensor buy from audi £3.04
light/rain sensor - have a browse on ebay
windscreen with light/rain sensor bracket - insurance job :eyebrows:
4F0 857 593 J (might need a colour code as you have beige interior)- plastic cover for wiring above mirror - buy from audi £4.74
4F0 857 593 G (might need a colour code as you have beige interior) - cable guide for mirror - buy from audi £4.67
kufatec loom - http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/produc...udi-A3-8P.html
Various repair pins needed from Audi... can confirm the part numbers on these as there are a few different types needed.

Hope that helps you mate, I can also provide you installation if you need it.

awesome, cheers for the help guys. Time to start collecting parts then.

I've got elsawin so I'm going to try and figure the wiring out and maybe make my own loom. If not kufatec here I come.

As for programming, i have VCDS but does anybody know what, if any configurations need changing?

Cheers

Rob

yh for coding just go to central electrics module and on the very first page of the long coding helper (byte 0) there is a bit that you need to tick saying 'rain/light sensor installed', tick that and your done :)

well thats perfect then! just get that mirror off fangio... bargain!
then just place an order with Stoke audi for the other parts and then get fitting!

just to re-ignite this one.

I've got the mirror and collecting the other bits at the moment. I'm going to have a go at making up my own loom. Just a couple of questions.

I'm trying to identify each wire in the mirror. There are 6 in total. So far I've got

Wire 1 to fuse 4 in dash fuse box.
Wire 2 to earth to earth point on A-Pillar (not sure whether it's left or right A-Pillar. Anyone know?)
Wire 3 to on board supply control unit (not sure on the location of this, anyone know? Is it with the fuse box?)
Wire 4 to both door control modules
Wire 5 to both door control modules
wire 6 to ??????????????? (Not sure on this one. Does it need to be connect? if so where?

next is what gauge wire to use for the loom?

Can anyone tell me the part number of the connector to plug into the auto dimming mirror?

If anyone can point out anything I've missed that would be great.

Cheers

Rob

perfect, cheers pal

Can i fit a facelift light switch, the one with the chrome trim or is it not compatible with pre face light cars?

cheers pal.

Pretty sure this is the one for my car. Can you just double check?

I got the light package with my A3 when
I bought it last may, it had auto dimming wing mirrors and two weeks ago some
W*nker hit my mirror while i was parked outside my house ,the cap only had a crack and i wasn't that bothered as i was planning on getting S3 ones this month anyway . My actual mirror was cracked to oblivion and the auto dimming liquid inside the mirror went all over my car ;( . I went to audi and asked them how much for a new mirror ,they wanted £195 for one ,i was like :0 . In the end i just went for a normal one for £30 :) . If you do go ahead with all mirrors auto dimming then i advise u always put ur mirrors in when u park up .

Yes mate, just like that. I understand I need to change door control modules as well when upgraded wing mirrors.

I really wish my car had auto lights/dimming/wipers. Is an ex demo so couldn't choose but rather be without those than wait 7 months for delivery like i read someone else did

yh! guys no need to wish you had it or that you ordered it! most of the spec on my car i have retrofitted myself.
so if you do want it then just make sure you have a few hundred spare and send me a message and i can make those wishes come true,

just been going through my parts list and I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a gel pad for the windscreen as well. Does anyone know the part number and have a link to the part I need?

Cheers
